About Edward Lau Film

Owner

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Edward Lau’s passion for storytelling and filmmaking began at a young age. His journey into the world of cinema led him to SFSU, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Cinema. After graduation, Edward later returned to HK, where he immersed himself in both the television and film industries. Edward has pursued his own creative projects, producing and directing several independent films. With one of his films earning an Audience Award at a local film festival—a testament to his talent and ability to connect with viewers through compelling storytelling.

For the past 17 years, Edward has also been a go-to wedding videographer, capturing over 900 weddings (and counting!). Known for his meticulous preparation, he always has backup gear for cameras and audio, ensuring that no moment—big or small—is ever missed. His laid-back yet professional demeanor allows him to bring out the best in every shoot, whether he’s documenting a couple’s special day or crafting a cinematic story. Edward’s work is a seamless blend of creativity, technical expertise, and a deep passion for storytelling, making him a versatile and reliable force in the world of filmmaking and videography.

    Edward went above and beyond for my husband and I. We contacted Edward the week of our wedding because our original videographer turned out to be a scam. My message was panicked and probably all over the place but he hopped onto our crazy ride, promised a great price and was ready to go. THEN, my husband and I learned we had COVID and had to postpone the wedding for two weeks. This didn't phase Edward. He was going to be there, the price was the same, and he was so kind and communicative. Day of the wedding he shows up and gets to work. He is incredibly kind, he worked amazingly with our other vendors, especially the photographer and and wedding planner. He really just knows how to step back and capture what is happening. He also knows exactly when to step in and get the particular shot he wants. He even stayed a little while longer without charging us. He was seriously such a delight leading up to the wedding and the day of the wedding. I just got the wedding video and I had to make sure I came here to sing his praises because the video IS AMAZING. So far I have only watched the sneak peek because my husband wants to wait to watch the video with his family, which, fine, but I want to watch it all now! Edward took one of my favorite songs and used it exactly as I dreamed in the preview. There is so much that went into that preview that I didn't even know he did and/or was there for. That's how good he is at just settling in and capturing the moment!! I really want to watch the full video so I can gush and marvel at all the other amazing ways he used the songs we sent him for our video. Plus, we get the raw footage too! That was really important to us. I cannot say enough kind things about Edward. It is impossible. He deserves the world. Thank you sooooooo much for being the exact videographer we needed. Thank you for being so calm and supportive during an especially hectic time. We were so lucky to find you. I'm considering having another wedding just to hire you again. hahahaha.
