Hullo! So you're gettin' hitched (YaaY!), but you’re not super into the idea of the overly-manicured wedding. A+ for you, because this is not your parents’ wedding photography. I'm a farm kid who floats between the journalism and art worlds. I love telling stories as much as I love listening to the stories of others. I’m the type of person who makes up musicals for my own amusement and nurses a soft spot for sci-fi and fantasy. If I’m not taking photos, I’m usually dancing. Or cooking. It’s possible I may have a baking addiction and try to mitigate the damage by forcing the goods on loved ones.

I tend to think of myself as an anti-wedding-photographer wedding photographer. I’ve never been crazy about the wedding industry. But I DO love love. And pretty things and making art. When I peer through the lens, I don't just see a wedding. I see humor and irony and quirks and texture and color. I see people who are geeking out, goofy, nervous, unabashedly happy, imperfect and going through a gushy mess of emotions. That doesn’t mean that I don’t love a good portrait. It just means I don’t shy away from shooting awkwardly embarrassing dance moves and runny mascara because I believe that sh*t is human and real and are the details that matter.

Celia was so professional and also made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. We didn't want to do a lot of posed pictures, and with Celia, it felt like we had one less thing to worry about on our wedding day. Our photos came out beautifully and she was always responsive when we sent an email with any questions.

The Lovely Lens were fantastic! Celia is the wedding photographer to use for your special day if you are low key and want quality happy looking photos. From our first phone call, they were detailed and easy-going in their communication style, which immediately put us at ease. On the day of the wedding, they did not increase our stress at all and instead contributed to the beautiful experience by capturing all the important moments seamlessly. The quality of their work was fantastic, and the editing on the photos was superb. We are happy with how the photos turned out and would recommend The Lovely Lens to any couple looking for wedding photography.

Celia is not your typical wedding photographer -- not even close. She is so much more! She's a documentarian, artist, journalist, and storyteller, and that is exactly why working with her was one of the best decisions we made for the best day of our lives! My husband and I wanted a photographer who would prioritize candid photos of genuine emotions and chaos (let's be honest, weddings are chaotic!) as opposed to staged and rigid "everyone-line-up-and-smile" portraits. The Lovely Lens fit that bill entirely. In addition to delivering the most beautiful, vibrant, happy, REAL photos of our wedding weekend, she was also such a lovely presence the whole time (I felt like she was a genuine friend by the end!) Also, she was totally game for everything! Our wedding got a late start thanks to the weather, which squished the time we'd allotted for photos exponentially (we also decided not to have a first look, so the photo time was even more squished). Celia quite literally sprinted through a field of wet grass and mud and then through a secret corridor with us as we rushed to get back to our cocktail hour to be present at our wedding. She is a superhero, and we cannot recommend her enough!

Celia at The Lovely Lens was an absolute GEM!! Our wedding was not the typical / traditional ceremony-- on purpose! Leading up to the big day, Celia kept lines of communication open (so helpful for planning) and was 1000% supportive of our special day being so...well, special! She was such a total champ while capturing every moment in the pouring rain. She was fully prepared for the weather & didn't miss one beat! My partner and I instantly felt at ease and loved our time together with her. She encouraged us to be our authentically goofy selves! Her presence was so warm, her energy was delightful, and her work was STUNNING! Seriously, I'm obsessed with the photos! Not only do we have incredible images from this amazing day, but we also have wonderful memories with Celia. She was so friendly and kind us as well as to our family and friends, and immediately jumped on board with our 'potluck bbq at Grandma's house' vibe. By the end of the day she felt like part of the family as we chatted about our furkids and exchanged on where to order some cute socks with their faces on them, haha. If you're looking for an absolute powerhouse of an artist to capture your day in the way that doesn't feel awkward or intrusive, or if you're looking for a photographer with genuinely good vibes and authentic energy, or if you're looking for someone to simply help tell your love story through stunning imagery-- please consider The Lovely Lens of Celia for your special day. 3
