Owner/Lead Photographer

Western MA based photojournalist and wedding photographer. Prior to coming home to Western Mass in 2010, I lived in Washington, DC. I spent 6 years as a member of the White House press corps . I was lucky enough to document a lot of historic events, including the election and inauguration of President Obama. My work has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Boston Globe.

I work in a very quiet and unobtrusive way. My goal is to provide an authentic photographic record that beautifully captures the look and emotions of your wedding day. I love making some really striking posed portraits too, but most of the day I observe and document without interrupting the flow to stage things for the camera.

    Matthew is without a doubt the wisest investment we made on our wedding day. He is calm, easy to work with, organized, and most importantly takes amazing photos. He's got a great eye for composition and his time as a press photographer means he's especially great with capturing candid moments. We had our wedding a little outside of his normal home base in Western MA, but he was happy to travel and the overall price was still very reasonable. If you're looking for a laid-back professional to take some of the most important photos of your life, Matthew is your guy. Very highly recommended.

    Matthew was a FANTASTIC addition to our wedding vendor team. His calm, accommodating, and warm demeanor put us at ease from the very moment we met with him. He gave lovely suggestions without being pushy, and was comfortable with our specific requests, even when they were a bit outside the box. He maintained a low profile throughout our wedding day, while also checking in with us for key decision moments. Not to mention, all the photos both staged and candid came out PHENOMENAL! We’ll have to wait a while before there’s a good reason to hire him again, but when it comes we’ll do so in a heartbeat. Thank you Matthew, for everything!!!

    Hiring Matthew to capture my daughter's wedding was one of the single best decisions made for that day. He is thoughtful throughout the process, taking time to meet with my daughter and her fiancé and have them really think about what was important to them to capture during their special day, putting together a timeline to make the most of our time with Matthew, and then just seamlessly blending in with the day and capturing some of the most stunning photos. We were blown away! We had seen enough of his work to know we'd be pleased, but he exceeded all of our expectations. His level of professionalism is extraordinary.

    Everything about Matt - his presence, his photography style, his approach to coverage - blew us away. We wanted a documentary style that showed us at our truest, enjoying a wedding that we structured more as a party for our friends and family than anything else. Matt moved effortlessly through a throng of kids and happy chaos, and delivered photos that we keep coming back to to relive the joy and feeling of the day as much as the wedding itself.
