I started photographing weddings in 2003 and eventually left my day job as a graphic designer to do photography full-time. In addition to photos, I create a few animated gifs from every session. My style is influenced by design principles, mid-century architecture, Edward Hopper paintings, plus films by Stanley Kubrick and Wes Anderson. I try to put as much attention into the surroundings or architecture as the subjects. I prefer to cover events solo and manage my own editing, posting teasers the next day. I’m based in the Detroit area but cover weddings all over America.

I’m routinely told that working with me is easy, fun, and relaxing. Plus your photos won’t look like everyone else’s. I provide cinematic, art-directed wedding & engagement photos. Specialized in unique digital color processing, and animated gif cinemagraphs. JLB is LGBT friendly.

Jlb photography far exceeded any of our expectations. Aside from being professional, he was fun and easy to work with, his personality and shooting style was so comforting and again easy to work with, throwing in some fun jokes of his own. BUT our photos turned out AMAZING. I have never looked at a photo of myself and said ‘omg that should be in a magazine’. He was so intentional with his shots. Posed us until he loved the position, snapped a few photos and then went onto the next pose. What really impressed us also was that he took all the couples from our wedding party and did individual couple shots of them as well as our parents. He then went around finding random couples and groups of people before our ceremony to take nice photos of them. We loved that he did this. Not to mention we had our entire photo album in LESS THAN TWO WEEKS. what a special end to our honeymoon!!

JLB was the perfect choice for our wedding. In the early stages of our wedding planning, we looked at so many wedding photographers and none of them spoke to us... until we found JLB. His artistic style is so unique and expressive, and it fit the vision for our wedding so well. From the moment we started working with him, we felt assured that we had made the right choice. JLB was incredibly professional, organized, and knowledgable. He had a confident answer for every specific question we had (e.g., how do you take photos of people with darker skin tones). Things got even better once we met in person for a pre-wedding/engagement shoot. We were so nervous about taking professional photographs, but JLB made us feel instantly comfortable. Within minutes, we were having so much fun running around town, listening to JLB's instructions, and taking museum-worthy photos. Fast-forward to the wedding, and his approach was no different: he captured all of the right moments in picture-perfect fashion, all while being super organized and super friendly. We can't wait to look back at these photos again and again in the years to come. We can't recommend JLB enough!

Jeffrey is the kindest, most creative, talented and lovely person to have worked with. He perfectly captured our wedding day and the vibe we wanted to create. He was patient with our guests and gave us the most beautiful memories from our day. He is worth every penny. Our only regret about hiring JLB was that we only have one wedding day!

JLB Photography was the first vendor my husband and I booked for our wedding. His eye for light, structure, and how to place subjects in a frame is impeccable! He is an expert in his field Our photos turned out incredible! We were so delighted by the time he took to take unique portraits of our guests, all in different locations at our venue.
