We began our journey in 2015 with a dusty gravel pit and vision for a new home. The gem was the stunning 30 acre crystal clear lake. After purchasing the property we found ourselves hosting church activities and work functions as people truly loved being here. Slowly we began adding amenities to the property. First a huge rope swing, (that we have since taken down). It was fun watching the kids fly into the water. Then the 110’ water slide kept all the kids smiling as they splashed into the lake. Then in 2020 our daughter was engaged to a great guy. As she began looking for that special place to host her wedding we came to realize that it was right here. We wanted it to be a very special place and we went to work.

The Barn at Monterey Valley is nestled between the beautiful rolling hills of Monterey Township on 80 private acres. Formally a fruit farm the property has been in the Dendel family for over 150 years. Just a few minutes west of US 131 the property is conveniently located between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo, Michigan. This tranquil location, full of nature and beautiful landscaping provides the perfect backdrop for memories to be made.

Blue Heron Barn is a Michigan barn wedding venue hosted in a modern and elegant restored barn. Our barn is situated on five acres bordered by the Portage Creek. The updated, historical barn is capable of hosting 200 guests. We take pride in providing a crisp, clean and professional atmosphere while also working with you to make your special day a uniquely memorable one. Later, as rural schools consolidated, the school was expanded in 1938 into a two room schoolhouse. Congratulations on your engagement! We offer 3 different packages. Elopements, Thursday package, Full weekend Rental. Our Full weekend rental is our most popular and is a rental from Friday at noon until Sunday at noon. Yes, we only host one wedding a weekend-it take the stress away! This time can be used however you desire. We are not vendor picky, you pick all of your own vendors. We do require a licensed bartender to serve all alcohol and we also require a one day special event insurance. We have 2 barns, one for the ceremony and the other for receptions. On site bathrooms, dressing rooms, firepit area as well as an outside bar. All tables and chairs are provided as well as wood high back chairs for head table. We also offer many rental items for decoration, centerpieces etc. 120 person capacity. We do require a deposit of $800 to book your date the remainder is structured on a payment plan.
