“Old Coon Creek Inn was a fantastic venue for our wedding day. Their communication throughout the planning process was straightforward, timely, and non-ambiguous, which made it easy for us to stay on top of all the details. The quality of their work and value was outstanding - the outdoor space was beautifully maintained, had a charming, rustic feel, and was very fairly priced. We were able to visit the venue a few times to help with decision-making and planning, and they worked closely with us on the table and chair setup to have everything ready when we arrived to add our personal touches. They also recommended a wonderful on-site coordinator who was invaluable in ensuring our day ran smoothly. The flexibility they provided with vendor choices for various areas was also greatly appreciated, and because we were able to bring in a lot of our own elements, it was very cost-efficient for us. In 1976, Hugh and Jody Deery had established themselves as greats in Midwest short track race promoting. With their large plot of land in Loves Park, just miles north of Rockford already housing Rockford Speedway, they asked themselves what's missing? The answer was affordable quality banquet space! Thus the idea for the Forest Hills Banquet was born. Construction began in 1977 and was completed in 1978. The annual Rockford Speedway Banquet was one of the first events held in the newly constructed "Lodge" and we are proud to have played a part in many wonderful celebrations in the years which have followed.
