My name is Rachel and I am the lead floral designer of Velvet Blooms. After studying music with an emphasis in vocals, I began to rethink what my creative path would be. Close friends for years, Kimberly Evans and Morgan Honings started working together in 2014 on select projects, photoshoots and large scale weddings. Their shared fondness for moody florals and ethereal blooms made them instantly click, both in and out of the design studio. Together they bring a fun, fresh and exciting new look to the Napa Valley.

Her journey started at the age of six years old, Melissa-May was surrounded by all aspects of creativity. Her ability to visualize things, put them onto paper and create anything from scratch was also apparent at a young age when she completed an illustration of her dream house, then constructed an entire floor plan and a model house made out of popsicle sticks. Furthermore, at the age of 12, her friend’s mother noticed Melissa-May’s gift of artistry and requested that she create cartoon place cards for her daughter’s Bat Mitzvah. She later was asked to create the invitations and centerpieces for her best friend’s Debutant ball.

After graduating with a Visual Design degree from FIT in New York City, I moved back to the Bay Area and decided to continue to pursue my passion for florals and romance. Now seven full wedding seasons in, I can call myself an artisan floral designer known for wild, raw and natural arrangements. Our aesthetic incorporates rare and unique ingredients; from wild fruits and vines, unique, fragrant, antique roses and other premium blooms.
