We booked the Culinary Curate for an intimate buffet style wedding celebration this summer. No rainy weather could have ruined the experience. Charmaine and her team made sure every guest had a wonderful time. From the early planning days of timely communication to clean up time following the event, Charmaine and her team’s execution was exemplary. Aside from delicious food, we were treated like family. Purslane

5.0

  • Serves Saddle Brook, NJ

Purslane is part of The Oberon Group, a Brooklyn neighborhood-focused restaurant group with a commitment to sustainability. We started Purslane in 2012 as a way to serve our community outside of our restaurants. Sustainability wasn’t part of our origin story, but we realized we had an opportunity to make a difference in one of the most wasteful industries out there. We are seasoned experts in executing corporate events of all sizes, ranging from galas and banquets, to private dinners, to multi-day conferences for hundreds of guests, to weekly lunch drop-offs for your whole office.

Awarded Best of Zola
Working with Purslane, and especially with Michaela and Justin, was a highlight of our wedding planning, and we feel incredibly lucky to have had such excellent partners in producing our event. The staff, especially Michaela and Justin, are responsive, friendly, accommodating, and professional; the space is gorgeous and beautifully maintained and operated; the food and drink were bountiful and delicious, and the service rivaled any of New York's fine restaurants. Best of all, the process of collaborating to make our wedding happen was easy and fun, and Michaela and Justin made us, the nervous engaged couple with a million things to manage, very confident that our day would not just go as planned, but would be a beautiful success. And indeed it was! Of all the people we worked with. Michaela and Justin deserve special mention. They are excellent communicators, responsive to the million questions and people that wedding planning entails. They are proactive collaborators, laying out a clear process and schedule not just for the day, but for the process of working to plan it. They provided useful, detailed documentation at every step of the way, including a very helpful list of recommended vendors. Every meeting with them was fun and friendly, but also productive, punctual and a good use of time. And of course, the food and wine tastings were delicious. Michaela and Justin were so helpful in giving us a sense of how the venue would perform in a situation we wouldn't get to experience until the day itself. They guided us expertly, making shrewd suggestions we might not have considered ("Since you have an open bar, we recommend choosing a heavier vegetarian entree.") My wife and I had a unique vision for our event, and these two not only assured us that it was possible, they worked with the park to accommodate myriad details, even down to the selection of lightbulbs. It's no exaggeration to say that without their help, the event would not have had the specific atmosphere we imagined, nor would it have been the roaring success that it was. All the confidence they inspired along the way paid off on the day, when Michaela, Justin, and their staff were a machine. The service was prompt, helpful, and invisible; the food was great, not losing too much in the translation from tasting to event; the wedding ran perfectly smoothly, with Purslane on top of the schedule, keeping the momentum of the night alive as they moved tables, served each course, operated the bars, and so on with perfect cadence. We are so, so grateful to Purslane for making our wedding a true dream come to life. Our only regret is not responding sooner to their lovely post-wedding thank you note, and for taking so long to write this review! To you recently-engageds with so many decisions to make, let me help you with this one: your search is over; just hire Purslane.

La Mila Catering & Events

5.0

  • Starts at $75
  • Serves Saddle Brook, NJ

Starting their careers in the restaurant and food industry, Elie & Heidi Hanna decided to utilize their unique experiences and create their own vision of a full service event company. La Mila is named after their daughter, Milana, who provides them with limitless inspiration and motivation.

As a classically trained chef, I hope my review of La Mila inspires anyone doing their “homework” to earn an A — for themselves, especially their guests. I’ve been to many weddings, and the food served is often an edible afterthought. How many times, when leaving a wedding, were you asked, “What did you think about the food?” — and you replied with shrugged shoulders, “Eh, it was okay.” That is not the case with La Mila. A huge shoutout and thank you to Sandy, who was able to pull together a phenomenal menu all in a very timely timeline. Sandy was honest, upfront, and available around our busy work schedule. The day before and the day of, Sandy was there to help with setup — from the big asks, like helping move furniture, to the small tasks—like lighting lanterns and ensuring no glass of champagne for our toast was served empty! Given our wedding took place at our home, we thoroughly appreciated Sandy staying late to clean the kitchen, empty overflowing garbage, and make sure our home was not a war zone when we woke up the next morning! Elie’s execution of our menu was stellar. As a classically trained chef, I was thoroughly impressed by the well-run machine Elie could create within our garage, the makeshift kitchen for the event. It rained on our wedding day, and we were blessed with a beautiful, vivid rainbow—right before dinner service. This blessing brought all our guests outside for 30 minutes—right before dinner. A major wrench in the moment-by-moment timeline. I know how this, for many chefs, can be a disruptive, unexpected delay—but Elie did not miss a beat. All of our guests raved about the food—notably friends who I graduated with from the Culinary Institute of America. One thing I learned in culinary school is that you “eat with your eyes first.” Simply put, Heidi’s presentation skills are on point! Her attention to detail in creating beautiful food displays, notably for our cocktail hour, showed the care, thought and love we wanted our guests to feel. Sandy, Elie, and Heidi may be the stars of La Mila’s show—but the success of our wedding would not have been possible without their hard-working and friendly staff. One of the elements that sold us on choosing La Mila, was their well-stocked arsenal of kitchen equipment they brought on site. (Most caterers require you rent equipment separately, which is not only more expensive, but introduces a whole new dimension of moving parts.) La Mila was also able to include chinaware, silverware, and the majority of our glassware! They even included soft drinks, water, condiments, cocktail napkins, etc. — all of this, and they still came in under what we were quoted by other caterers. Thank you, Sandy, Elie, Heidi, and the entire La Mila Catering & Events team, for making our wedding day what it was. Your talent, professionalism, and experience were felt by everyone who took part in our special day.

Modern Fusion - Catering

5.0

  • Serves Saddle Brook, NJ

Awarded BEST Of Catering 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 on ALL Major Platforms! Chef Angelo Napoli has been in the restaurant business his entire life. His passion and esteemed aspirations to become a chef grew stronger throughout the years while watching his father work in their family owned restaurant, Napoli Pizza. His love for delicious cuisine became an addiction. Competing throughout his early education in various culinary battles, Angelo knew he had a gift. He spent years mastering his craft, working sous chef and head chef positions at some of the Lehigh Valley's top restaurants!

When we first started planning our wedding, the only thing we knew for sure was that we wanted food everyone would talk about. Another priority was having vegetarian options that went beyond just pasta or cauliflower steaks.  Chef Angelo, and the whole team at Modern Fusion, completely blew our expectations away. From the moment we first reached out, he was responsive, collaborative, and patient in answering all the questions we threw at him.  When it came time to plan our menu, he worked with us to adjust their dishes to suit our (somewhat picky) tastes.  “Can this be made vegetarian?” “Can you make sure there are no nuts in anything?” “Can this dish be made a little less spicy?” Whatever we needed, Angelo assured us they could make it happen. We also threw out an idea that more or less combined two dishes. He was not only eager to accommodate our request, he seemed just as excited at the idea of the dish as we were. These early interactions went a long way in putting us at ease throughout the planning process. Then we had our tasting. Every single thing we had was so good that we were worried we were going to be disappointed come the wedding day. We thought, “There’s no way they’re going to be able to make everything *that* good for 100 people!” We were so very, very wrong.  Did the first guest we saw at cocktail hour say, “Congratulations!” or “Let’s take a picture?” No, I’m pretty sure they said “This food is so good, I’m already on my third empanada.” Which was exactly what we wanted to hear. And we continued to hear comments like that all night long. From the moment we reached out straight through to the end of the reception, Chef Angelo and his staff went above and beyond in every way imaginable. The day could not have gone better and we owe so much of that to them. Now I’m just trying to think up other occasions we could have catered so I can eat more of their incredible food.

Shore Catering

  • Serves Saddle Brook, NJ

5-Star Full-Service Catering from casual to elegant for all occasions since 1988. We offer packages for all occasions such as wedding receptions, lobster clambakes, bbq picnics, beach parties, showers, anniversaries, and so much more. Our team will assist you from start to finish, planning your menu, coordinating rentals, linen colors, floorplans, timelines, vendor referrals, private tastings and so much more. We bring our catering services to all corners of New Jersey and will also assist you in trying to find the perfect venue to suit your event's needs. Shore Catering can help make your event a memorable occasion.

When we tasted the food we knew that our guests would be happy with our selection of shore catering (and we were right! We recieved many compliments on the dinner and hors d'oeuvres). What we DIDN'T realize is that we were receiving more than just a catering service- we were receiving what felt like a warm welcome into a family business that took some of the stress out of the wedding planning process! Shore was the only caterer we encountered that was willing to work within our budget, and individually tailor a package to meet our needs, allowing us to feel comfortable financially without feeling like we were sacrificing ANY of the quality and elegance that we wanted for our wedding! Moreover, on the day of our wedding, summer took care of us as though we were her oldest friends, meeting us with so much genuine warmth and a contagious smile. She made sure we were able to actually eat and drink (which so many of our friends told us would be difficult to do at our wedding!) and kept the vibe HIGH even in spite of pouring rain and floods on the day of the event! We wish we could get married again and again and we would hire Shore Catering every single time!! I HIGHLY recommend Shore Catering to any bride and groom who want all of the quality with none of the stress!

Welcome to Events and Weddings By Allan! Our family owned restaurant is a celebration of the Mediterranean region known for its fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and healthy dishes. Our Chef Allan Abbad uses authentic recipes and techniques that have been passed down through generations. In addition to our exceptional cuisine, we offer planning services that are tailored to your needs and preferences. From menu planning to decor and party favors, we take care of everything so that you can sit back and enjoy the festivities.

I don’t know which was better, the ease of working with Allan and his wife or quality of the food? Both were amazing. The charcuterie station seemed to go on forever. There was something for everyone and Allan took into account dietary restrictions. Along with the charcuterie station there were salads as well as the main courses. They offered great selections and advice on what dishes would go best with the others. They also offered suggestions to cut down on the already economical prices. I would HIGHLY recommend Events and Weddings by Allan for all of your catering needs.

Pheasant

5.0

  • Serves Saddle Brook, NJ

We LOVE weddings here at Pheasant! Being entrusted with one of the most important days of a couple’s life is not something we take lightly. After all, the bridal couple may be the focus of the day, but an amazing meal and impeccable service will make the entire event that much more memorable. Our knowledgeable staff will help guide you through the decision-making process as we go through menus, table scapes, furniture, timing, bar service and more together. We also have a strong rolodex of planners and florists that we work with on a regular basis - just ask us for more info!

Working with Pheasant was the best decision we could have made for our wedding!!! Yes, it sounds cliché, but it is true. The title of this post is not even a joke; friends and family will-not-stop-talking-about-how-good-the-food-was-at-the-wedding...I'm like...hello? What about me, the bride? Our hilarious and heartfelt vows? The live band? Or even our surprise choreographed dance? Nope!! The food was the **true highlight** of the day/night. Although I may sound mad about it, I am not because it was absolutely delicious, stunning, fresh, and extremely memorable. The appetizers at cocktail hour, the raw bar, and the family style dinner was 10/10, 5 stars, 100%. Most brides and grooms don't even eat at their wedding because they are mingling...but, we had seconds and thirds with extra romesco sauce!!!! Working with Pheasant was hands down the easiest part of the whole wedding. Lola and Cat were incredibly quick to respond to emails, they went along with our requests and offered incredible suggestions. On top of all of that, they handled the rentals, collaborated with our florist and made the table setting romantic, dreamy, and very us 3 They also emotionally supported my decision when I switched event coordinators somewhat late in the game and they helped me find a better match. Lola and Cat were present and professional throughout our time together and then disappeared like fairy godmothers on the special day. They were there, because I vividly remember demanding a hug, but once the event started, they were working their magic on the backend and making sure we had the wedding of our dreams. I do not have a single complaint and I aim to be as honest as possible when writing reviews because it is what helped me make my decision when I was hiring vendors. Do yourself a favor, and hire Pheasant to cater your wedding and you and your guests can thank me later.

We arranged to have the Tuck-ins team come to our wedding to set up a table with small fire stations and Tuck-ins so that our guests could roast their own s'mores as a fun, interactive dessert. All of my guests loved them and they were also able to take some home if they wanted to save one for later. Additionally, working with the Tuck-ins team was great; they're very responsive and were even able to customize the labels on the Tuck-ins to have our names and wedding date on them.
