The Poe Museum's Enchanted Garden makes for a small event venue that is absolutely poetic! Edgar Allan Poe considered gardens to be one of the highest art forms. Inspired by his poem "To One in Paradise," the Museum's Enchanted Garden was created in 1922 to pay tribute to this passion. The Gardens at the Poe Museum are the convergence of many aspects of the history and culture of Richmond. The landscape captures the romance and mystery of Poe's work while also paying homage to the southern tradition of gardening. This charming, intimate space is ideal for wedding ceremonies, receptions, parties and other gatherings of up to 75 people. The Estate at River Run offers a dream setting to host a variety of elegant affairs. High on a bluff towering over the James River, this exquisite Georgian Revival offers 16,000 square feet of opulence, built by Taylor and Parrish Construction from 1981-1987. This stately Georgian features an upper brick promenade surrounded by a limestone balustrade and opens to a double curved staircase to the lower terrace. The mansion's interior boasts extravagant architectural embellishment. Marble floors, ornamental cornices, plaster friezes, 18-foot columns with gilded Corinthian capitals, and custom crystal chandeliers please the eye from the onset. A Jeffersonian pool house with a hexagonal raised dome presides over a circular pool with bluestone terraces and a limestone balustrade.
