It's cheaper, there's more variety in what he/she can play and therefore can appeal to a broader audience, and most importantly for us, a DJ takes up less space than a band. We thought about foregoing a professional altogether and just doing the iPod thing, but I was afraid that it would stress me out. For anyone else who has done the DJ search, there is LOT of cheese out there! I received a packet from this one guy with all kinds of crazy rainbow colors and smiley faces and frankly, his voice on the phone scared me. We wanted a low-key DJ, not a show-boat. Tom was perfect. He totally delivered! He wore a tux and looked great. Call me shallow but that's important - the DJ is in the background of quite a few of the photos. He was professional and knew what to play to make everyone happy. He also played all of the songs we asked him to, which is not always a given. The reception was non-stop dancing all night. It's obvious from a mile away he loves what he does, and that making wedding days special is a calling for him and not just a gig or job. His energy radiates into everyone around him. I've been in the military and private healthcare, and I'm just very cognizant of and appreciative of people who have a total mastery of what they do, and a great attitude that makes everyone around them more confident and makes the mission not just more successful but more enjoyable. This is the first time I've been so moved by a wedding vendor's performance and attitude that I tracked them down so I could thank them and write a review for them. “We had so many incredible people and vendors involved with putting on our big shindig/wedding. So the bar is really high when evaluating any one of them individually, but Bill truly was one of our favorites from the beginning. His professionalism, flexibility, and commitment to making our day as fun as possible despite our crowd skewing very old and not very dance-prone on average, as well as FAR too many people bailing RIGHT after dinner (What is that, New England?? The party went until 10 pm. Not that much to ask to stay until the end, and your ONE job as a wedding guest is to make the day as wonderful and fun as possible to the people who have graciously included you.). In any case, he did his best with the small crowd who really showed up for us that day (and didn't dine and dash) and helped us forget about the negative aspects of the day by making it a really fun and rowdy dance party with those who did stay. Thank you, Bill! You are truly a lovely human.”
