“My husband and I had the absolute pleasure of getting married at Bear Mountain Inn in September 2024, and we cannot say enough wonderful things about this venue! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with open arms—truly treated like family by the incredible owners and staff. Their warmth, kindness, and attention to detail made our wedding weekend nothing short of magical. One of the things we loved most was being able to turn our wedding into a full weekend experience, allowing us to relax, soak in every moment, and celebrate with our closest family and friends. The inn itself is breathtaking—set against the stunning backdrop of nature, providing the perfect setting for both our ceremony and reception. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, catering to our every need with genuine care and professionalism. And the best part? We got to include our dogs in the festivities! This was so important to us, and Bear Mountain Inn made it so easy and special to have them be a part of our big day. If you are looking for a venue that is beautiful, welcoming, and filled with heart, Bear Mountain Inn is the place. We are forever grateful for the memories we made here and would highly recommend it to any couple looking for the perfect wedding venue. “When my husband and I were looking for venues in our home state of Maine we happened upon the Greenwood Manor Inn during our lengthy search. The photos we saw online were so charming and it looked like a place we could picture ourselves getting married. When we arrived for our tour we met with Jill, who is truly sunshine in human form. She is one of the kindest people, and her personality is absolutely infectious. I won’t lie Jill, you were one of the big reasons we decided to get married at the Inn! On top of her amazing personality, she can truly do it all! She connected us with a florist and a photographer that we used, provided us with a whole list of other vendors, baked all of our cupcakes, and prepared all of the appetizers for cocktail hour! Her cooking and baking are absolutely out of this world by the way, breakfast at the inn was incredible every morning we stayed there! Fast forward to wedding weekend, we were able to book the whole inn for the weekend with all of our wedding party guests. Jill and Joe made sure everything anybody needed was taken care of so quickly. The rooms are absolutely adorable, and the suites for us to get ready in were HUGE and could fit all the bridesmaids for hair/makeup/getting dressed with no issues. There were always fresh cookies in the lobby that were demolished by all of us multiple times, and we would leave for a few minutes and there would magically be more! (Thanks Jill!). The day before our wedding we realized that our tent wouldn’t be big enough to fit our caterers, and Jill’s sister was kind enough to let us borrow some of her tents to cover the caterers so they wouldn’t be in the hot sun. We also forgot an easel for our seating chart, and Jill and Joe magically had one for us to use! Joe handled the bartending for our reception and even picked wild Maine blueberries to use for our blueberry margarita signature drink. Needless to say it was absolutely delicious and wildly popular with our guests! I truly cannot rave enough about the Greenwood manor inn. Our wedding day was better than I could have ever dreamed it would be, and it was in big part to Jill, Joe, and company. Including Cocoa and Spice, the resident furry friends who were the cherry on top. We can’t wait to come back in a few years to visit and remember our big day spent at the Greenwood Manor Inn. Truly cannot recommend it enough!”

“It’s impossible to write a review that’s worthy of this venue and this team. From day one Lynn and Cassie were SO helpful. Any question I had was answered in a few hours with detail. Ceremony arbor, all tables and chairs, Table cloths, chargers, all dinner wear are included with the venue- napkins and decor is all you have to provide (rare and saves you thousands of dollars) - also set up and cleaned up for you. You are only required to set up your decorations. And at the end of the night they clean up and set everything that’s yours in one spot for an easy pickup the next day.  Cassie (day of coordinator) made the planning process seamless and somehow fun. She helps the couples through the entire process and relieves stress anywhere she can. (And I mean as far as even reaching out to vendors on our behalf)  Their preferred vendors list is TOP TIER- like seriously look no further. They do this every weekend and see what vendors are professional and organized. It made all the difference for us. - I would like to note that we choose our own videographer and photographer and it was an easy and smooth process to get them “approved” - I put this in quotes because truly they are just ensuring they are licensed (duh!! This is a business after all no one can be mad they require this)  - The venue is organized and they know exactly what is needed to make it as easy as possible for the couple.   We were welcomed warmly to the inn - which felt like home for the weekend. (For those of you that have stayed in a high end bnb it’s similar vibes!) the staff was incredible and gave us our space and would only check in to see if we needed anything, (or more mimosas ;) ) -breakfast was provided from the inn and  we were able to bring in lunch that day from Hannaford for our vendors and party! Venue does require a stop to the music at 9:30 but they were not pushing people out and let people say goodbye and grab the shuttle Cassie ensured rehearsal and the day of went perfect and everything was timely throughout the whole night. *note Cassie is not your wedding planner!!! She’s there to help you throughout the process and make your life easier, not plan your wedding for you Lynn & Matt made sure anything we needed for our stay at the inn / anything venue related was done for us immediately.     One last thing to note- do not let the “strict” rules reviews deter you. We toured 15 venues. Unless the venue was brand new and still getting their footing, or a very casual venue -  they all had rules and regulations. It’s really just to protect you and your guests. Respect the venue, and they will respect you.    You will not regret choosing this venue I promise !!!! It was easily the best day of our lives.”

“Originally when I saw the inn I wasn’t sold, it’s slightly dated (but charming) and would be a bit far for friends and family (we live in Boston and family all over) but their responsiveness and flexibility sold us. They were so nice and so accommodating the entire way. We loved that people could stay on site ( but no minimum night stay requirement) or could stay at b&b or Airbnb in town. The activities like the pool and golf were great too. Everything, including the weather was perfect. We did a tented wedding which I loved, I didn’t like that cocktail hour was near the parking lot, but in the end it really didn’t matter. The food was excellent, they let us really chose anything we wanted and made it happen. They made the signature cocktails just like we requested and they were so delicious. Everyone on site was so incredibly friendly from bar tenders to servers. Jonathan was an awesome day of coordinator and really made sure it was smooth and easy, the staff did all the setting up and it looked beautiful. All our guests loved the bethel inn too! During our process the inn did get bought by a larger company but we never noticed any change in our planning and process. I’m not sure if they are going to continue to have weddings under new management but if they do- I say do it! Loved it so much! We took photos at their boat house and they were so kind to prepare a canoe and clean it, our photographers were impressed!”

“The whole team was extremely supportive and so excited to make our day perfect. We held our reception at the Tavern and the team worked with us to create the perfect winter wedding theme. The guests had a great time and really enjoyed the venue. One of my favorite things the team worked with me on was to create a late night s’mores bar out by the fire pits. Besides just holding the reception we also had our rehearsal dinner with them where they were able to work easily with all of our dietary restrictions. The majority of the wedding guests stayed at the inn and the team was super supportive of making sure the guests were able to make the most of their time area. It was truly a dream to work with them and I’d do it all over again.”

“The 1830 Wedding Barn is an absolute MUST for a wedding venue. I have nothing but incredible things to say. The location is beautiful and private, the barn has enough room to fit everything we needed (we had around 100 guests), there are beautiful spots to take photos, and they offer florals as part of a package, which saved so much time (and they were beautiful). Not to mention, the owners are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. Not only did they provide a beautiful place, but their willingness to help out allowed my husband and I to enjoy the day. They decorated for us, organized stuff with the vendors, helped with cleaning up, etc. I would choose this venue over and over again, and suggest it to anyone looking to get married!”

“We had the most fabulous long weekend celebrating our daughter’s wedding at Sunday River, and we truly could not have asked for a more wonderful experience! From the moment we checked in on Thursday, everyone we encountered was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. The level of service throughout the entire weekend was exceptional. From Brandon at check-in that first evening, to Benedict, who was constantly going above and beyond to help us, to Greg, Jennie-Mae, Michael (Samantha’s dedicated server), and every member of the waitstaff and bartending team; everyone was absolutely wonderful. Most importantly, our daughter truly felt like a princess on her wedding day. As her parents, there is nothing more we could have asked for. Our family and friends are still talking about what a beautiful wedding it was, the incredible food, and the exceptional service they received throughout the weekend. One of our favorite little details was the grilled cheese and tomato soup shooters our daughter had specifically requested for cocktail hour. Sunday River went out of their way to custom make them for her. They ended up being an enormous hit, our guests absolutely loved them! They have since been added to the menu! Cambelle was an absolute pleasure to work with, and we are so grateful to her and the entire Sunday River team for making such an important weekend in our family’s lives feel so special. The Jordan Hotel was the perfect setting for the celebration, and everything came together more beautifully than we could have imagined. I could continue singing their praises for pages, but simply put, we cannot thank everyone enough for making our daughter and son-in-law’s wedding weekend so incredibly special and memorable. We will always look back on those few days with the happiest memories and are so grateful we chose Sunday River for such a special occasion. If you are considering Sunday River for your wedding, I cannot recommend them highly enough!”

“Heidi was the most helpful during the planning process. She answered any and all questions I had about the space and logistics. She was professional, prompt, and knowledgeable. Matt was amazing on the day of the wedding. He made sure the ceremony and reception went smoothly. He even drove my husband, myself, and our photographer back down the mountain after the ceremony in his own car! He continually checked in with me and made the day much easier. Now for the space itself - we were immediately blown away by the King Pine ceremony location at the top of a mountain overlooking the beautiful lake. We got to take the ski lift up to the ceremony with our guests and I know those will be unforgettable pictures! Our reception was tented at king pine field and everyone raved about the whole thing from start to finish. We spent our time canoeing and kayaking with our dog and spending time with our friends and family. I can’t recommend having your wedding at Purity Spring enough!”

When we came back the morning after, everything was already packed up and ready for us to load. Nicole was amazing to work with throughout the entire planning process. “Choosing Camp Cody as our wedding venue was a huge decision and an excellent choice. Anna was so helpful throughout the process, and Dora was amazing weekend of–I never saw her standing still. The venue is so gorgeous, and being able to host our friends and family for a whole weekend made everything go by more slowly, with plenty of opportunities to connect with everyone. The Capture the Flag game we held morning of was a big highlight. The food was INCREDIBLE, and our guests haven’t stopped commenting on it. Everyone says you don’t eat at your wedding, and you better believe that was not true for us. As a person with a lot of food allergies, I’ve never felt more cared for and accommodated, and it was amazing to have that for our guests as well. In one notable moment, my cousin with celiac jumped with joy at the prospect of having gluten free pancakes and french toast for breakfast. The accommodations were comfortable, even in 30-40 degree temps overnight, the heat really works! Staying on site and not having to run around everywhere looking for everything and everyone made a big difference as someone without a planner. Also, arranging folks in cabins was not as stressful as we expected it to be. With our smaller wedding, we had plenty of space to spread people out. Thank you again to White Mountain Weddings for an amazing weekend!”

Some of the team up on the mountain even helped me try to blow dry and pat dry my dress during the cocktail hour! The venue is stunning, the food was delicious, and the Omni team helped us personalize our wedding down to the tiniest details: including fun signature cocktails, little gold animals for the kids, and they even set aside apps for bride/groom during the cocktail hour- otherwise we wouldn’t have gotten to try them! The Hall itself is stunning which makes decorating very easy and the downtown setting is so much fun! Aaron, Madison and Cleo are wonderful to work with as well and really brought our vision to life, and the way they handled vendor coordination made day-of stress free. We also loved the energy they brought to the day and it’s so nice to have them there behind the bar and to answer any questions! “My husband and I had one goal in mind when we were planning our recent wedding: we wanted everyone to have fun! There is not a better place we could have imagined for our wedding than Bayside Bowl!! From our first FaceTime to the sweet note we just got in the mail two weeks after our wedding, every step of the process was smooth and we couldn't have been in better hands than with Micaela and the entire team at Bayside. With a wedding of a little over 100 people, we got pretty much unanimous feedback that our wedding at Bayside was one of the most fun that anyone had ever attended. In truth, this is largely due to the care and ease with which Micaela managed everything! We had an absolutely stress-free wedding and felt so well-taken care of throughout the event and in the run up. You'll enjoy the tasting event where you get to sample offerings from Bayside's awesome menu before your wedding, and the food was also a hit with the guests! We couldn't have wished for a more perfect wedding weekend than the one we had at Bayside.”

Fortland

Portland, ME
  • Up to 125 guests

  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $6,000

Fortland is a ruggedly elegant, off-grid event venue and "glamping" destination located on the southern half of House Island in Portland’s Casco Bay. Accessible only by a 10-minute boat ride, it is set within the 16-acre grounds of historic Fort Scammel, a Civil War-era fortification.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Provides a dedicated team on-site
  • Flexible event spaces
  • Offers convenient lodging options

Venue considerations

  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • On-site parking not available
  • Couple must handle cleanup and setup
“Fortland is truly the best wedding venue ever!! We got married there in August and it was better than we could have imagined. From the start, Ashley and Stacey were incredible to work with. Fortland isn’t a plug-and-play venue, which is part of why we chose it, but it also means having a team who really knows the island matters. They helped us think through how to use each space and shared ideas from past weddings that made our weekend feel personal and helped imagine how a wedding could work out in such a unique place. We did a full island takeover, which I would recommend if you can swing it. Our wedding parties stayed in the tents all weekend and it ended up being one of the highlights. Even friends who don’t ever camp were comfortable and fully into it immediately. Our rehearsal dinner on the overlook deck was stunning, and wrapping the night around the campfire was super fun for both us and our friends and family. On Saturday, we used every part of the island we could. The ceremony on the dock was calm and beautiful, looking out towards Fort Gorges and sailboats. Cocktail hour on the parade ground overlooking Casco Bay felt quintessentially Maine. Stefan offered an optional fort tour that a surprising number of guests loved. Dinner inside the bastion as the sun set through the stone windows was unreal. Then we had a band under the community tent and it turned into the kind of party you hope for but can’t fully plan. Every shift in location made the next part of the night feel new and exciting. The staff really makes Fortland what it is. Katrina and Stefan, the owners, care deeply about the property and about the people getting married there, and you feel that all weekend. Grace and Jo were the caretakers on the island with us all weekend and were so fun and easy to be around while also being incredibly on top of everything. If you’re looking for a traditional ballroom wedding, this isn’t that. But if you want an experience where your guests feel immersed, connected, and a little bit off the grid in the best way, Fortland is hard to beat. We'll definitely be visiting Fortland again every chance we can get.”

The venue is known for its stunning architectural details, historic charm, and exceptional service. Grace Events offers several spaces for various guest counts, from cocktail receptions for up to 350 guests to seated dinners for 250. • Combines timeless elegance with history
  • Multiple event spaces

Venue considerations

  • Not wheelchair accessible

“We had our wedding reception at Grace in April and it was absolutely perfect, we cannot recommend enough. The building is gorgeous, truly not requiring any added decor as it shines on its own. From the balcony, the massive stained glass windows, the huge bar, to every other detail; it is stunning. The ownership changed in the middle of our wedding planning which was stressful at the time, but genuinely made our day that much better. The new Grace team is incredible. Meghan was a surprise bonus wedding planner; proving us with great advice, doing everything she could to make our day perfect, and renovating Grace in record time before our day. Her and the team provided new paint, new tables, and perhaps best of all, new bridal and groomsmen suites that were the perfect place to get ready. If you are debating booking Grace, do it. It is beautiful, has a great dance floor, is in the perfect location walkable to everything Portland offers, and was such a smooth planning process.”

“We cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience at the Westin Portland Harborview Hotel. From start to finish, the entire team made our wedding weekend absolutely seamless, beautiful, and stress-free. A huge and heartfelt thank you to Lindsay Plantier, the Hotel’s Catering Sales Manager and our wedding coordinator. Lindsay was extraordinary—accommodating every last-minute change, working with our budget, and helping us customize the perfect dream wedding. On the wedding day itself, we were completely hands-off and everything ran with incredible professionalism. We received so many compliments from guests who noticed how organized, smooth, and well-run the entire event was. The staff throughout the hotel deserves major recognition. From check-in to check-out, we felt truly cared for. The front desk team was warm and attentive, and even the waitress assigned to us at our reception went above and beyond—checking in throughout the evening to make sure I ate, stayed hydrated, and could be fully present with our guests. Every single employee we encountered was kind, professional, and clearly part of a well-oiled, highly coordinated team. The ballroom itself was stunning. We didn’t have to purchase any extra décor besides a few bud vases we chose to add. The hotel provided linens, table numbers, candles, charger plates and more at no additional cost. The room looked polished, elegant, and absolutely beautiful! We also loved that our package included a farewell brunch at the Top of the East, which was gorgeous during the day and at night. We invited guests to "meet us at the Top of the East" after our reception to serve as an after party for those not ready to tuck in for the night. Guests raved about both the daytime ocean views and the nighttime skyline. The convenience of having everything under one roof was priceless. Our guests appreciated being able to park once and enjoy the entire weekend in one place. We were married at the church directly across the street, making it incredibly easy for everyone to move between events safely and comfortably. Choosing the Westin Portland Harborview was one of the best decisions we made. The venue, the service, the staff, and especially Lindsay created a wedding weekend that exceeded every expectation. We are so grateful and would recommend this venue wholeheartedly to any couple looking for a beautiful, expertly managed, guest-friendly wedding experience.”
