Historically, we’ve found wedding DJs to be subpar. Between the poor choice in songs and the lack of beat matching ability, we‘ve always had critiques about the DJs when we attend weddings. From the initial consultation to the wedding day itself, DJ Neema was dedication to making the musical experience authentic and meaningful. Initially, we interviewed two DJs and DJ Neema stood out with his impeccable mix that seamlessly blended our eclectic music tastes, from Houston rap to Bollywood hits. On the wedding day, he worked his magic, keeping the dance floor alive the entire time — keep in mind that this was a daytime and a completely dry wedding! His ability to read the crowd and curate the perfect vibe for the event was truly impressive. When it started sprinkling, neither our guests nor DJ Neema wanted to stop so with the help from some friends, they constructed a cover for DJ Neema’s set up with a table cloth and dry cleaning plastic and kept the party going (see pic)! “When first meeting with Ram-Z, we were instantly drawn to his energy and thought he would be the perfect MC for our wedding. He was communicative, professional, and flexible, going as far as helping me remix a surprise song for the bridal processional. He remained patient with us even as we sent updates to our song list during wedding week! On our wedding day, Ram-Z was genuinely invested in making sure we had a great day–beyond just playing music–by checking in with us throughout the evening and even tracking us down at the end of the night to wish us good luck. In planning music for the wedding, we shared a few playlists with Ram-Z so he could get an idea of our preferences. Although our musical tastes are a bit eclectic, we were hoping for a little more continuity during the dancing portion of the evening. The dance floor was not as active as we would have liked, and while we had competing activities (i.e. games) for our guests, we felt that more energetic music might have encouraged more people to dance. “I wanted an excellent, professional, and kind pianist for our wedding. Jan was the answer. I am also a pianist, and I did not want the standard Pachelbel's Canon or Wedding March played during our ceremony. I had dreamt of Beethoven's Pathetique playing as my father walked me down the aisle for as long as I can remember -- my dad played this on the piano frequently when I was a child, so the piece holds a lot of sentimental value. I had previously worked with my church's pianist, who was judgmental of my music choices, steering me away from using any unique pieces for the ceremony. As a young bride, I nearly listened to that lady. But I am so glad someone recommended Jan! As soon as I contacted her, she asked all the right questions and provided details about her services that put me at ease. In addition to the Pathetique, I also requested portions of pieces I had played growing up, including Bach, Chopin, Debussy, and Grieg's Wedding Day at Troldhaugen. “We were beyond impressed with Mark! Not only is he a fantastic DJ, but he's a skilled pianist, singer, emcee, and overall entertainer. Our guests loved him and kept bringing up how amazing he was even months after our wedding . He was recommended by a friend who'd attended a wedding where he played and we similarly have shouted his praises! We hired Mark for our wedding reception. We had a fantastic interview with him where he got a feel for what we liked, our story, and our vibe as a couple. We had a long "do not play" list which might have limited a basic wedding DJ, but not Mark. He went off of our favorite songs, artists, and genres and kept our guests on the dance floor. My only "complaint" is that the songs were so good that I kept delaying the cake cutting (not a big deal at all) because I didn't want to leave the dance floor! He is incredibly engaging and professional. His emceeing was spot-on: his timing was perfect, he kept things organized, and he took care to get all the names and pronunciations correct (which seems like a little thing, but I've seen it go wrong so many times and you don't want that!). He brought all his equipment, so we didn't have to worry about anything. The mics and sound were the perfect volume for speeches etc. and there were zero technical issues. Absolutely seamless. Our budget for a DJ was a few hundred less than what we paid for Mark, but the difference in cost was worth it many times over for having a DJ of his caliber plus the added treat of live music. Honestly, what we paid was a bargain and I'm beyond glad and relieved we went with Mark rather than hunting for a cheap DJ/experience (especially after attending so many weddings lately and seeing the wide range in what you can get). Mark sang and played piano during dinner, which was really nice. While people could talk and enjoy their food, some of the singing was so good I had to stop and listen at times! He has runs for days (some swooning during 'Tennessee Whiskey') and Grandma loved that he did some Sinatra. Overall, not only was he a reliable, timely, communicative vendor, but he helped make our wedding the best night of our lives with his musicianship. Things couldn't have gone more smoothly. Not only would I hire him again in a heartbeat, I tried to get him for our company holiday party but he was already booked (not surprising given how great he is!). Highly recommend!!! Thanks, Mark!”

“Mike brought expert level attention to detail, along with a great feel for the vibe of our reception. First, he was very informative in our initial discussions, providing direct answers to each of our questions, and giving us an easy to fill in Google Doc for our input. He met with us and our event coordinator to discuss timeline and go over our preferences for certain parts of the ceremony. On the day of he was set up and ready to go for our cocktail hour, and by the time we entered for our first dance he had our (normally very shy) friends and family bumping with energy. During the first dance he kept an eye out for me to signal to wrap up our song a little early (nobody wants to hear a long instrumental outro...). He then proceeded to do a great job of MC'ing our dinner and toasts. Then our party was a complete blast. He expertly weaved in our recommendations with his own song picks. This was no small feat since our wedding featured a combination of American and South Indian cultures, meaning that he had to blend in a number of songs that were most likely new to him. Overall it went really well, with both of our dads having an amazing time, and our friends grouping up for some of the bigger tracks. He closed the night with a special intro to our closer song (Daft Punk's One more time) and everyone was asking for more (unfortunately venues have strict closing times). So, we would highly recommend for the professionalism, organization and ability to keep track of the party's mood as the night went on.”
