Merinda Starnes has performed as a solo, orchestra, and ensemble musician since 2007. She received her degree in harp performance from the University of Utah studying under Dr. Cathy Clayton. During her college career, she performed with the University of Utah and University of Arizona’s Wind Ensemble and Philharmonic as their principal harpist. ​Her solo performing career started at the age of 9, which has included performances at local city creative art concerts, church and religious meetings, as well as weddings, business and corporate events. She is currently the principal harpist for Skyward Symphony.

I opened the business in 2008 with the idea of mainly focusing on weddings. I am honored to be apart of so many wonderful couples celebrations. I have been married to my wonderful wife since 2002 and have two kids that fill up our lives. Music is a very big part of our family's lives. The Proper Way began when multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriters Shane Osguthorpe and Scott Rogers met while playing a local festival. They established themselves as The Proper Way in 2016, when a promoter invited them to come for a series of shows in Lake Tahoe. After touring nonstop for two years, the band joined forces with friend and fellow singer-songwriter Carrie Myers to release Ain't No Good Thing Ever Dies, a collection of songs by Bob Dylan and Tom Waits, in 2018. The musical connection with Myers was so obvious, and they had so much fun performing and recording as a trio, that Myers joined the band shortly afterwards.
