I’m Schantel, owner of Maxine Baked. I’m a wife, daughter, sister, friend, and baking enthusiast. My love for cake is homegrown through countless hours spent working side by side, in the kitchen, with my grandmother. Grammie Maxine, keeper of my family, was and remains my biggest influence. She was a woman who took absolute pleasure in preparing homemade meals and desserts for her family. Her baking in particular, was always from scratch and made with the utmost love and care. Over the past few years, baking has worked its way through my heart.

Hello! I'm Jillian, I have been baking since childhood. In the early days, I was always the girl who made cupcakes for friends and provided sweet treats for holidays and parties. Baking remained a hobby for me as I pursued an education in massage therapy and developed coffee-making and customer service skills at the local Starbucks. Hello friends! I’m a nonbinary (they/them) artist, cat parent, and first-time business owner. I derailed my 4-year college plan to work in a restaurant and then attend pastry school - which is how I landed in Rhode Island. I needed a field that was both regimented and creative and pastry delivered! I’ve baked in Providence for over 6 years, and I couldn’t imagine ever leaving the incredible network of small food businesses that I’ve been welcomed into. Every cake and frosting is made by me, from scratch - no fondant in my kitchen! My favorite designs are those that capture the personalities and passions of my incredible clients.

Petrova Chocolates was established in 2020 and since then we have been focusing on creating eye-catching, artisanal chocolate bonbons, truffles, chocolate bars and caramels with unique flavor combinations. Our chocolates are the perfect sweet touch to every event whether as a guest gift, a chocolate dessert table set-up or as a delicious name tag at every guest's seat. CHIC is a culmination of my retail, styling, and design background. Truthfully, the idea of this little biz was created while on lockdown during the pandemic, a little unorthodox I know, but I was determined. I identified this gap in the market the summer prior... after struggling to find a pretty dessert cart for an event at my client's new business launch. Viola! CHIC cotton candy was born, serving the cosmopolitan Boston market; giving a traditional childhood treat-- a chic upgrade. Wherever the party is, we want to be there for you! xo
