The Hartley House (also known as the Bond-Bates-Hartley House) located in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina was built circa 1790 for John Pearson Bond. The house later came into possession of John Bates, husband of John Pearson Bond’s great niece and a member of the family that the town of Batesburg was named for. There are many local legends surrounding this house and it’s friendly visitors. According to local tradition, the Bond-Bates-Hartley House served as a stagecoach stop and post office, prior to the founding of the town of Batesburg. Architecturally the house is a typical upcountry farmhouse, with a portico adapted from the Greek Revival style.

“I am a wedding photographer, and I think the wedding that I shot at Hartley House in December 2021 might be my favorite one yet! The house itself is beautiful along with the perfect decor and design that is in every room. Photographers will be happy to hear that large windows in the getting-ready rooms bring in plenty of natural light! The locations for the ceremony and reception are right next to the house, which makes things very convenient for wedding party members and all the guests. The Hartley House staff is also very kind and easy to communicate with. I highly suggest booking this venue. I'd love to go back and photograph another wedding!”
