The Proper Way began when multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriters Shane Osguthorpe and Scott Rogers met while playing a local festival. They established themselves as The Proper Way in 2016, when a promoter invited them to come for a series of shows in Lake Tahoe. After touring nonstop for two years, the band joined forces with friend and fellow singer-songwriter Carrie Myers to release Ain't No Good Thing Ever Dies, a collection of songs by Bob Dylan and Tom Waits, in 2018. The musical connection with Myers was so obvious, and they had so much fun performing and recording as a trio, that Myers joined the band shortly afterwards.

I started my education as a professional harpist at Utah State University. In May of 2020 I graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelors in Music with emphasis in the harp. The Man Cubs LOVE Disney music. ​ In 2017, the band members of Compass & Cavern and Creature Canopy joined forces and spent hundreds of hours listening to, transcribing, and practicing Disney songs to perform at a one-time show in Denver.
