“I booked Windy City Glam for my Sept. 2024 wedding. I only booked them for hairstyle so my review is just on my wedding day hair. I knew I wanted to have Hollywood waves on my big day, so when I found this team I knew I HAD TO BOOK THEM. I was so lucky they had my date available. They were easy to communicate with & very organized so you can easily refer back to info such as how to prep hair for wedding day, upcoming payment dates, and/or trial dates. Alex, my stylist, was sweet, accommodating, fast working but super detail oriented (everything you need for your busy morning!!!) I’m glad I did a trial for my hairstyle because that’s where we consulted on clip-in extension placement and color match. That’s also where I realized I’ll need two full bundles of clip-ins instead of one to get the full look I wanted! Trust me, do the trial! I’m extremely happy with how my hair look on my wedding day. It lasted all night long looking perfect! People were shocked that it wasn’t my real hair length because she blended everything so beautifully. (For reference my hair is shoulder length when straight) I paid to have them travel out to my wedding and I’d pay to have them come halfway around the world if I needed too! Highly recommend!!! You will NOT be disappointed!!”

“I chose Pin Me up Chicago basically because when I started reaching out to individual artists, I realized the price of them was getting way outside my budget. I didn't realize how expensive Hair & make Up would cost in the city of Chicago. I found PinMeUp from a friend referral and she had all positive things to say. I appreciated the lower cost and ability to pick specific services. They were very accommodating when I had to change my trials last minute due to a family emergency which I very much appreciated, and Jennifer, the primary contact, would respond in an efficient amount of time and would update the contract as I added and removed certain services which was nice to not be fully locked in as things changed. I ultimately chose them because of that more affordable cost. However, with a cheaper cost does create drawbacks. You don't get a say in who does your hair and makeup, and you can't see their work in advance, and they don't allow you to speak to them directly post the trial. At my trial, my make up artist, Mimi, was certainly skilled and you can tell as been doing this awhile. I do appreciate that she took my feedback and would adjust. Between the trial and the wedding, she really did take that feedback and knocked it out of the park at the wedding. My make up lasted all day, and she was even able to cover a vitiligo spot on my chest so it is barely noticeable. If given a choice, I would say you should ask for Mimi! She did a great job with my bridesmaids as well and could add glam when needed and also very light make up when requested. For my hair, I actually only had small feedback post trial, but she really struggled day of the wedding. I'm not sure what happened but it took an hour longer than it should have, my extension didn't stay hooked in so I had to fix them, and all the curl completely fell out in one hour and I had to recurl it prior to the ceremony. I don't love my hair from the wedding and I'm hoping over the years it won't bother me so much. She did however so great with my bridesmaids so I am not sure what happened with my bridal hair. Ultimately, you get a little of what you pay for, so if I could go back in time, I might have gone with a hair stylist that I knew could do the style that I wanted and just accepted the cost. Overall, it is a good budget friendly option for hair and make up.”

“Shannon O’Brien is a Godsend. I say this literally and figuratively. I was never a bride’s “Bride,” in that I didn’t have any thoughts about my wedding before I became engaged. Once the process started, my biggest concern was makeup. After having many bad experiences as a bridesmaid (all 200 times), I was very nervous about my "bridal look." Who doesn’t want to feel comfortable on their wedding day? I stumbled across Shannon’s Instagram page (shoutout to @Shannicat), and aside from her being the most fashionable and upbeat person, her brides all looked fantastic and most importantly, NATURAL. I knew I had to reach out. Sadly, I received the email that every bride dreads-- she was booked. Of course she was. Her talent is a known fact in the Chicago area. I was crushed, but I started the process of make-up trials with other makeup artists. While they were all very nice, I left each time feeling like a typical bride. No one was able to capture who I was without changing my features. I didn’t feel “special” or beautiful and something just didn’t sit right. Months passed, panic ensued, and the heavens opened: Shannon O’Brien was now available for my wedding. Instantly, I went to contract—no trial runs, no questions asked. I was so confident in this decision that I didn’t even schedule my first trial until 2 months before my wedding—me, the most type A individual, went on blind faith up until the finish line. Once I met Shannon, I knew I made the right decision. She opened the door with a huge smile on her face, assuring me that I would look exactly how I had envisioned. I showed her 3 photos, at most, and left the rest up to her. By time she had finished, I felt amazing. She enhanced my features, made me feel beautiful, and most importantly, I still looked like me! On the morning of the wedding, there was a common theme in the room: Everyone loved Shannon O’Brien. Bridesmaids were raving about her. No one asked for changes (how unheard of is that with 12 bridesmaids and two mothers?) Everyone gravitated to her station to watch her work, myself included. She made the entire group feel at ease between her relaxed demeanor and her uncanny ability to listen and capture everyone’s beauty. For the girls who wanted a natural look, she achieved it. For those that wanted a more done up look, she made it happen while still making them look classic and elegant. She was and IS an absolute dream come true. To give more weight to my confidence in Shannon, I ended up paying extra so that she would stick around for almost the entire evening. I knew there would be a lot of happy tears shed and touch ups would be a must, and I was right. Every time I went back to the room for Shannon to re-glamorize me, she celebrated with me, told me to take in the evening, and sent me back out reminding me of just how perfect this evening was. And she was right. Hiring Shannon was easily the best decision that I made throughout this wedding planning process. Although I didn’t know it then, she was truly the glue that helped keep it all together. She allowed me to look and feel my best self, and because of this, I was able to not let anything else get in the way of what was certainly the start to a lifetime of memories. I cannot recommend Shannon enough. She is one of the most talented and delightful individuals, and I look forward to hiring her for every big life event I, hopefully, have coming my way.
