My husband and I started this bakery in the middle of the pandemic in 2021 with the dream of making products that we're proud of. Since then we are proud to have won the award for best desserts in State College and continue to enjoy it all to this day.

Salt and Light Pastry Co. was founded in early 2018 in the vibrant city of New Orleans by Chef Ruby Shenk. Ruby was a Pastry Chef in the New Orleans restaurant scene for 6 years before starting her own business. We are proud to have local customers and customers that travel from as far as California, Florida, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Maine, and Virginia to purchase our cakes. The “sweets” business is the only business I’ve ever known. I’ve been decorating cakes professionally for over 15 years! I come from a family who loves dessert. I enjoy baking, so when my daughter needed to raise funds for her missions trip we started "baking for a cause." Our baking endeavor to raise support for my daughter's missions trip has blossomed into my passion and a full bakery business! I have found something I really enjoy doing which also allows me to incorporate my creativity. Baking for me is more than just throwing together a few ingredients. For me, it is more about creating a new design or personalizing a product. It's about doing something for someone else! Tiny Bake Shop had its beginnings as a small private venture, Awesome Cupcake. With a brand new stand mixer and a bag of flour, Awesome Cupcake kicked off with its first “drive-by cupcaking” in the spring of 2010, with its owner, Sarah. She began experimenting with different cupcake recipes and delivering the results to unsuspecting friends and family. In 2012, after moving to Williamsport, Sarah and Becky met. Becky, another baking enthusiast and dessert-lover, assisted with new recipes and occasional large dessert orders.

Custom baked goods made to order for all occasions with a small quick bite menu offered through our Cafe. I began this journey in 2015, my daughter who was 11 at the time thought it would be fascinating to have us start a bakery because it was something we could do together. Well, it has been quite a roller coaster and I have learned so much in such little time; every day a new lesson. I would not trade the hard lessons, difficult times, the tears, and the insane amount of dishes for anything in this world because I have done it with my daughter’s encouragement and camaraderie always alongside me.
