The Pilgrim Center and its predecessor have been building community in midtown, Kansas City, Missouri for nearly 50 years. In the late-1960’s, a group of involved neighborhood leaders first gathered in Westport to address the issues of violence and crime that were overtaking their historic neighborhood. Out of their discussions, the Westport Allen Center was born, and two young seminarians, Roger and Liz Coleman, were invited to lead this organization. The Westport Allen Center purchased a building and began offering the space free to groups interested in improving the community. Before long, the first Free Clinic in the area opened, rehearsal space was provided for what would become the Kansas City Ballet, the Allen Edison school was founded, and affordable housing for seniors created in the neighborhood. Making childcare, education, healthcare, senior living, and arts programming available to the area were big steps in rebuilding a healthier community for Westport.

Housed in the restored Fire Station No. 31, Fire House KC has been meticulously renovated with tradition and elegance. Throughout the entire space, several preserved accessories and artifacts from the era are showcased, including the original fire pole, antique fire hose cart, and fire hose shaft. Blending the history of the area with modern infusions, Fire House KC is now a classy, elegant, and charming event space. The main hall showcases original brick walls and windows, with antique chandeliers adding a touch of elegant refinement. The second floor, which once housed the offices and sleeping quarters for one-duty workers, now features multiple suites for the wedding parties to prepare as well as a perfect intimate ceremony room. A private courtyard space is also available, making an ideal area for a ceremony, cocktail hour or for guests to enjoy a breath of fresh air. Newlyweds-to-be can host both ceremonies and receptions at Fire House KC and have access to the entire space.

The Juliet is located in the beautifully restored Historic Luzier Cosmetics Building that was built in 1928. Whether you’re looking to host a small gathering, networking event, or intimate wedding, The Juliet is a small luxury multi-use rooftop loft venue. Featuring white-washed walls, original black framed pane-glass windows, 20 foot ceilings, modern light-fixtures, and a Juliet balcony, this contemporary space is a dream come true!

Our event space is classically decorated with a timeless, European folk-tale inspired motif that reaches from floor to our beautiful 16 foot ceilings. The rustic full-wall windows let in gorgeous floods of sunlight by day and romantic views of the city by night. We would love to help host your event and perfectly curate your special day. Our space can seat up to 45 guests plus additional outdoor and side room accommodations if needed. Event Rentals start at $600 for a three hour rental. ​Our names are Craig and Nancy Rogge, and we have lived on and owned this property for over 34 years. We have raised two children here and have used our barns and property all these years to raise horses, cows, chickens, ducks, rabbits, cats, and dogs. We have 30+ years of wonderful memories and stories on our little piece of paradise! ​Our barns were built in 1944 by a previous owner, Walter Kurzweil, who our street is named after and who used the property and barns for a dairy farm. Walter Kurzweil had deep ties to the Raymore community as well as had family connections to the Maxine Dean family (Walter was her Uncle), another prominent Raymore name. ​ If you go back even further, our property was granted to a young man in 1857 as part of the “ScripWarrant Act of 1847.” At that time, public land was gifted through this Act to military personnel for their service in the Mexican-American War.
