“We hired DJ Chuck from mydeejay for our wedding on April 6, 2024 at Kent Island Resort, and it was the best decision! From our initial phone call, after interviewing a few different DJs from different companies, we knew Chuck would be the right fit. Throughout the planning process he was very accommodating, and the mydeejay planning portal was incredibly thorough and easy to navigate. Chuck arrived early to set up for both our outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. His equipment was top of the line - everyone said our ceremony music (which was played outside during an incredibly windy day) sounded like live string music. He then reached out to the day of coordinator to figure out which song was correct. He also took the time to understand what we were looking for for our cocktail hour and wedding reception. He reached out many times prior to our wedding to check in with us and make sure that all of our questions were answered. It was clear that he genuinely cares about providing a memorable experience. Marty is also flexible. Originally the plan was for our dance floor to be outside. However, due to a heat wave we ended up deciding to move the dance floor inside. Marty was able to easily accommodate this request and he also offered to put speakers outside so guests who were out on the deck would still be able to hear the music. We also recommend going with the up-lighting. He did a great job setting up the lights. The lights actually change colors and really change the vibe of the reception room once the party gets started! The live music he delivered during cocktail hour was a standout of the night. We had so many compliments from guests about his cocktail hour performance. Not only did he do a great job reading the vibe of the room in order to keep the dance floor lively, but at one point he also helped with cleaning up dinner plates. As someone who had a strong vision of the vibe I wanted for our wedding reception, planning the playlist with DJ D-Mac felt like the true collaborative process of my dreams. He took my must play/do not play lists and ran with them, making additional suggestions and unique mixes. He went above and beyond the call of duty in helping troubleshoot sound-related issues with the venue, making lighting suggestions, and even helping us find an excellent karaoke vendor for our after party. His personal style and the style of his DJ setup were sleek, cool, and a little retro, which only added to the wedding aesthetic. Most importantly, DJ D-Mac had an uncanny ability to read the dance floor and know which songs would keep people moving, seamlessly weaving together an eclectic dream mix of everything from '60s soul, disco, '90s R&B, and even Dolly Parton. I truly can't remember another time when I've danced so hard or so joyfully-- I had to briefly go outside to catch my breath after one particularly resplendent mix. A DJ can really make or break a wedding reception, and DJ D-Mac dazzled all of our friends and family-- many of them still mention how much fun they had dancing at our wedding more than a year later. I wish I could throw a hundred more events so I could hire DJ D-Mac to DJ-- or at least wish he could be at the helm of the turntables at every event I attend in the future.”
