I used to be a divorce attorney, I had brain surgery, and now I'm a wedding photographer. Yes, you read that right. But there's obviously more to the story. Before going to law school I went to school for photojournalism and even worked for newspapers. After brain surgery turned my life upside down, I realized I wanted to go back to my roots as a photojournalist and I wanted to capture truly joyful, enthusiastic moments and voila - I fell in love with weddings and photographing them.

When I finished college, I decided to follow the call of my passion, the classical guitar. I bought a ticket to Spain, birthplace of the instrument and home to a rich and ancient musical tradition. After several years studying alongside some of the world’s greats and honing my performance skills, I began to hear a different call—that of my own roots, the Pacific Northwest—and I knew it was time to continue my travels. Although I have now returned home from Spain, my journey with the classical guitar is only beginning.

I’m Tammy Jean Lamoureux, artist, partner, mother, photographer. In the twenty years that I’ve been taking pictures, photography has been my tool for seeing beauty in the everyday. My hope is to document the biggest moments of people’s lives while also illuminating those small moments of magic that hide in plain sight.
