Foster's Clambakes And Catering

5.0

York, ME
  • Up to 300 guests
  • Select services
  • Indoor & outdoor

Foster’s Clambakes and Catering is an event venue and full-service catering company located in York Harbor, Maine. Foster’s is famous for its clambakes, lobster, Maine cuisine and personal service. They offer indoor and outdoor receptions, rehearsal dinners and ceremonies at their venue. They are also partnered with several seacoast event venues and cater throughout New England. Foster’s main function space which can host 75-300 guests, is a rustic space with stone fireplaces, surrounded by windows with access to outdoor cocktail space lit by bistro lighting with a fire pit. There is a grassy outdoor ceremony or reception space that can hold ceremonies of all sizes or tented events for up to 400 guests. It sits beside a picturesque pond and includes large wooden ceremony arbor and bench seating. For more intimate weddings and rehearsal dinners the York Room can host 30-70 guests and has a modern barn style with opening to outdoor cocktail space with bistro lighting and fire pit.

We cannot say enough about how incredible Foster’s was for our wedding. We held our reception in the Pavilion Room, and it was absolutely perfect. The room provided ample space for all of our guests to dine comfortably and dance the night away, with high ceilings and a rustic, elegant vibe that wasn’t overly beachy—exactly what we were looking for. The two beautiful fireplaces on either side of the room added a cozy touch to the ambiance. Our ceremony took place on their gorgeous lawn, framed by a stunning tree line and a picturesque pond complete with a fountain. The arbor made for a breathtaking backdrop as we exchanged our vows under the open sky. It felt like something out of a dream. A special shout-out to Roxanne, our day-of coordinator, who truly made our day flawless. From helping us select appetizers, meals, and bar service, to setting up an ambiance that wowed both us and our guests, she was with us every step of the way. Her attention to detail and calming presence were invaluable, and she ensured that the entire day ran smoothly, handling everything we needed—and things we didn’t even realize we needed—with grace and professionalism. Speaking of food, the catering was beyond amazing. We chose the beef tenderloin with bordelaise sauce and Atlantic grilled salmon, and both were cooked to perfection. The meatball appetizers were an absolute highlight—people are still talking about them! What’s more, the food was surprisingly affordable for the high quality. Foster’s and their incredible team curated the most memorable experience of a lifetime for us. We will forever sing their praises. Thank you for making our special day everything we dreamed of and more!

Olio was the first (and only) wedding venue we toured. Immediately following our tour, my partner and I cancelled all tours/meetings with other venues - we knew that if we were going to have a wedding, it had to be at Olio. Sarah and the Olio team ALWAYS met us with genuine enthusiasm and kindness. All communications with Olio were authentic, seamless, and enjoyable. Since our family lives all over the country, Sarah and the team went out of their way to accommodate and ensure each of our family members could tour Olio when they were in town. Our wedding exceeded any and all expectations. It is impossible to articulate the beauty of this venue. All of our friends and family continue to rave about the space, story behind Olio, and the wonderful venue team. Olio is incredible without any decorations, but can be a blank canvas for people with big ideas. There is East End Peabody Veterans Memorial Park down the road that is perfect for photos, and a Granite Coast Brewing Company a few doors down for an afterparty. Olio and their team will make you feel supported, and with their authenticity comes a critical level of mutual trust. Thank you Olio for being the best venue, and team, we could have ever asked for!

We loved our experience planning/hosting a wedding cereomony and reception at the Armory. The staff were great to work with and the whole event went off without a hitch! The space was beautiful with lighting and decorations. One of the biggest advantages is that the Armory doesn't restrict which caterer you can work with. Many of the other venues we looked at had exclusive contracts with caterers that were many-fold more expensive than the one we ultimately used. Physically, the space we rented is a large performance hall with a stage on one side and a mezzanine on the other. Both are big open hardwood-floor spaces. The space is kind of dark, but looks great with adequate lighting and decorations. The Armory offers some string-lights and up-lights for free, and we also hired a lighting company to add additional lights. We also rented some plants. We had the ceremony on the main floor, then a cocktail hour on the mezzanine during which the catering staff flipped the main floor (we had 140 guests and they all fit comfortably). A live band performed on the stage and the caterer prepped in the backstage area. There is no kitchen so the caterer had to prepare all the food ahead of time offsite. One drawback is that the Armory doesn't allow hard alcohol to be served. Some other pros are that there's a parking lot and a new hotel that opened nearby. Overall, we would highly recommend the Armory, especially if you are willing to mix and match vendors and aren't expecting wrap-around service from a place that does weddings all the time.
