We swiped right on each other! Embarrassingly enough, we met on Tinder. We talked on the phone every night for roughly two weeks before it was decided to do a dinner date. December 27th was our first date at the good ol' Red Lobster [bless those biscuits]. Nerves definitely started setting in for both of us, but once seated, we were at ease and couldn't stop talking. After dinner, neither of us wanted the date to end so we scoured the aisles of Target and ended up boot shopping in the shoe department. Still not wanting the date to end, we drove to the Scioto River and sat in the park and listened to music until the night came to a close.
Love was in the air and Matthew planned the perfect proposal on our 2 year anniversary of being together. He planned a nice walk in the park where we ended our first date. He was also going to have my sister sneakily take photos at stone remains where he would get down on one knee and pop the question and I'd cry! Well, then it rained. Good ol' Ohio! Poor guy was so stressed when all his plans unraveled and he couldn't do what he had envisioned. Instead, he asked me, "Would you like your anniversary surprise in the morning or afternoon?" To which, I responded, "Do I have to change out of my PJs and look decent?" He replied no so I decided to have my surprise then. Still in bed. Still in pajamas. I closed my eyes and waited. I heard him walk over to his nightstand and open the drawer. Then he walked over to my side of the bed. And that's when I heard it, the little creak as he got down on one knee. In my head I was shouting, "OMG, it's happening!" I was allowed to open my eyes as he knelt there with anticipation. All I could say was, "I knew it!" and immediately started crying. And here we are today! I never technically said yes, but he knows 😉
