Staying in a cabin is quite rustic, but it should be fun! Please consider your comfort level concerning shared sleeping, bathroom, and showering space before requesting a cabin bed during RSVP. ● Sleeping bag or travel blankets ● Pillow ● Towel ● Swimsuit (for showering) ● Shower shoes/flip flops ● Any clothing and toiletries you would normally pack ● A jacket/fleece for the cool evening weather ● Comfortable shoes for walking around camp ● Party outfit & dancing shoes for wedding day! ● Headlamp or flashlight ● Extra battery pack for charging phone ● Earplugs (in case you’re a light sleeper) ● Refillable water bottle
Those who are staying at the camp can start arriving at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 1st. We recommend checking out by 11:30am on Sunday, November 3rd since we have to have camp totally clean and vacated by 1:00pm. Please leave your cabin just as clean as you found it, so we don't incur any additional cleaning charges.
For the camp, dress casual and comfortable. For the wedding, we encourage dressing up a bit to get into the celebration spirit (and making Robert and Kate not feel awkward for being dressed up). Fun, bold, and colorful clothing in a semi-formal/cocktail style is encouraged! Due to uneven camp ground conditions, sneakers/boots/flats are recommended. We do not recommend wearing heeled shoes. But if you must, stick with block heels and wedges.
Yes! However, we will not have a designated babysitter, so please plan to have your kids with you at all times and plan for their needs. You're a parent, you already know this...
Nope! Unfortunately, pets are not allowed at OVY camp. Yes, that means Mac, Cheese, and Cookie are staying at home, too.
Yes, there is ample parking. In case it is relevant, vehicles or vehicle/trailer combinations with a wheelbase over 102 inches in width and a length of 40 feet or higher are prohibited. In addition, Class A and Class C RV’s and Class A and Class C Shuttle Buses/Coach Buses are strictly prohibited.
The average temperature of early November in San Gregorio, CA is a high of 66 degrees Fahrenheit and a low of 43 degrees. The venue is in a coastal forest so there is likely to be some fog/marine layer in the morning and evening adding to the cool temperatures. We do not expect rain, but please check the weather report before traveling and pack accordingly!
Great question! We encourage people to carpool, share a rental car, or be willing to swing by an airport to pick up passengers, if possible. To help coordinate this, please record your name, travel details, and what you are seeking/willing to provide in terms of carpooling in the Google Doc: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1G_e7N4LWe9ZGKYLIUpdvOuRAcMY-bDh2asJACTTpapU/edit?usp=sharing. If you coordinate with others on the spreadsheet please mark your situation as resolved, otherwise we will be reaching out to help coordinate carpools from the spreadsheet. Uber/Lyft is not reliable in the venue area, so I would not suggest relying on that option to get to an airport. However, that may be an option to get from the airport to the venue.
All guests are welcome to join for all meals from Friday dinner to Sunday brunch. After you RSVP to the wedding, we will be asking for your intent to join for each meal and food allergies/preferences. Check back later for detailed menus!
There is wifi at the main hall. Overall cellphone reception can be spotty on the property. Verizon and AT&T seem to have the best cell reception.
Unfortunately, no. We love to swim, but we did not reserve the pool due to seasonal temperatures. We will have plenty of other activities to keep you entertained.
OVY stands for Optimist Volunteers for Youth. Optimist Clubs from the San Francisco Bay Area established OVY Camp in 1952 to provide a safe, enjoyable, and educational camping experience for at-risk youth. OVY Camp raises money throughout the year (in part by renting the property for weddings!) in order to give economically disadvantaged youth from the Bay Area the opportunity to have a high-quality summer camp experience at little to no cost.
