Excellent local tap list and solid food, good for a weekend lunch. Will and Rosemary played pub trivia here after they moved in together nearby.

Comal

One of our favourite spots for a date night, and a great introduction to what makes Californian-Mexican food special. Try the Comal Swizzle with mezcal.

Rudy's Can't Fail Cafe

Our go-to punk-themed greasy brunch spot. Get something with hollandaise on it, plus some extra hollandaise to dip your toast into.

TrueBurger

The best "fast food style" burger and fries in town. Out-of-towners: garlic fries are a Bay Area classic.

Clove And Hoof

This butchery and sandwich shop makes an unbelievable cheesesteak.

Kona Club

Although the location of our first date is sadly closed (Kronnerburger, RIP), we ended up at Kona Club afterward. They are famous for their sweet, blended chi-chis, but they'll make you a more serious Tiki drink if you want.

The Alley | Piano Bar & Restaurant

Where it all began. We met here, singing across the piano bar on a Wednesday night. This place is too special for words -- you've just gotta go and experience it for yourself.

C.D.P

The upscale bar attached to Oakland's fanciest restaurant, two-Michelin-star Commis. They share a kitchen, so the food is knockout-good. A great place to go if you want to feel like it's a special occasion.

Southie

Another go-to brunch spot for Will and Rosemary (and also for Rosemary's side of the family). Get the meatball sub.

Farmhouse Kitchen Thai Cuisine

Jack London Square made this a much-needed respite from lockdown in 2020 -- Will and Rosemary would get takeout and eat it by the water.

Seamlessly bridges the gap between neighbourhood dive bar and thoughtful cocktail bar. An independent favourite of Will's and Rosemary's before they met.
