Jeremy and I met how any iconic love story starts, a best man and maid of honor eager to work together. My cousin Kristyn, and Jeremy's childhood friend, Asa, were getting married in 2022, and blessed us with the rolls that connected us closer than we could have imagined. September 2021, I drove from my home in Austin to visit her in Houston for holiday weekend and met Kristyn and Asa at Sam's Boat for dinner. While there, two of Asa's friends joined us in the smallest booth meant for 4, but Jeremy squeezed in next to me. I tried to make it obvious we were touching, but he played it cool. We bar hopped to a few additional places, and I rode with Jeremy everywhere absorbing every moment. He was my ride or die that night. After everyone went home, Jeremy and I spent 4 hours outside till 3am walking around our friends' house and talking about anything and everything. Surprising one another by how much we had in common; our values, our wits, and carefree attitudes. The way he looked at me, I knew we could be out there all night. I remember thinking I never wanted it to end and couldn't believe who I just met. If anything, I knew he was going to be my best friend. When he left, I went to bed cheesing from ear to ear and wanting more. We texted until the sun rose. I was eager to see him again, and since then we have talked every day. I went back home to Austin, and within a month I convinced him to come see me there. We dated between two cities in the beginning. Watching him drive away each time was a heartache, but the pain from him leaving was nothing to the joy of meeting again. Distance gave me a reason love harder. 6 months after we met was the first time we told each other we were in love. March 2023 is when he convinced me to start a home together in Houston. I could never have imagined I would meet someone so perfect for me; and I can’t wait to marry my best friend.
