While stories like this should likely fit the unified “‘this how we met’ in a super sentimental way” trope, meeting at the start of your Freshman year of college tends to lead to distorted and differing opinions on how two broke college students' first encounters happened. Early dates of perry’s pizza, taco bell, 2am treks home, and common room super smash bro tournaments were the norm through the early years of their relationship, and neither would trade them for the world. Who’s to say whether they met at a party one of the first weekends at college, via a stroke of fate where one of Tommy’s best friends happened to fall down a staircase in front of what happened to be Tommy’s future wife? Or whether they met in the following weeks in a crowded common room where lifelong friendships were being created (it’s likely the former)? The important bit is they met at SUNY Brockport, early in their freshman year, in their dorm building, McLean Hall. The couple started dating a little over half way through their first year of college, and have been together “like 8 or 9 years”. Having started dating so young, Kelsey and Tommy have shared many experiences - essentially having grown up together. First jobs, first apartment, first dog, and now their first home.
