Question

Any hot tips on arriving and travelling from the airport?

Answer

You'll land, then go through a quick passport check, after which you'll collect you bags and enter one more checkpoint at which you'll be asked to provide your declaration papers. Keep in mind your airline might not give you these on the flight, so make sure you grab a form before you get in this second customs lines (there are kiosks everywhere with forms available). From that point on you have one mission: Do not purchase a glass bottom boat ride or a time-share. Proceed with haste through the next couple of big rooms. Once you're outside you'll be able to book a cab or shuttle at a kiosk, and can grab a drink at one of the many bars. If you are staying at a resort or hotel you can likely coordinate a pickup/shuttle ahead of time. But if you haven't, coordinating a ride in the moment is easy. There are group shuttles and private cars available. The shuttles will wait til they're full and you may have to wait while it makes the rounds dropping other guests of at other locations. Ours took a while, and we'd probably recommend spending the extra 30 bucks an just reserving a private cab. It'll be faster and will get you into your vacay quicker.

Question

Where is the Party?

Answer

The center of events for the weekend will be the Drift Hotel in Centro San Jose del Cabo. There will be a group of our friends and family staying here, but everyone in town is welcome (and encouraged) to stop by and use it as your home base during the day This is where we'll be having the reception, and shuttles to the ceremony will leave from, and return here. There is plenty of nice outdoor space - a restaurant serving food and drink, beautiful shady courtyard, pool patio, etc. - for everyone to get together during the days and evenings. While we'll be spending time out around town there's a good chance we'll be hanging around here a good part of the day too!

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

Drift Hotel is where much of the weekends activities will take place. While we would have loved to have had room there for all, the hotels in Centro don't have a ton of rooms and Drift is no exception. The hotel block is booked full, but all guests will be welcome to visit and use the amenities at will, so stop by often and bring something to wade around in! As far as actual places to sleep go - please book a stay someplace that will help give you the vacation you are hoping for! If you would like to stay close to the center of the art and gallery district (this is the Centro neighborhood Drift is located) we'd recommend Casa Natalia or El Encanto. Casa Natalia is a another boutique hotel located on Plaza Mijares next to some great cafes and food options, and El Encanto is a great looking spot on Jose Maria Moreles, which, as far as we can tell from our visit, has some of the best cocktail and food options in Centro. Keep in mind Centro is the old center of San Jose del Cabo and is not on the Beach. If you are looking to get some true ocean views in consider: Hotel El Ganzo is a boutique hotel on the beach, just east of town (8 minutes by car from Drift). El Ganzo's beach club has reciprocity with Drift, so we will likely spend some time there at some point during the week. If you are looking for the full-blown all inclusive sun soaked resort package then there are tons of spots for you to check out. The resort strip in San Jose del Cabo is about 10 minutes by car from Drift
