So, this wedding weekend is also our 30th birthday party! We can't wait to celebrate the start of our marriage, and the start of our 30's, with all of the most important people in our lives! Thank you so much for being a part of our festivities!
It was a hot summer day in Davis, CA when Tyler and his buddies decided to play some games (admittedly, drinking games) on the rooftop of their house (admittedly, a frat house). A fellow fraternity brother invited Sarah and her roommate over to hang out. At first she was reluctant, she'd been out of town all weekend and had to pack up her apartment to move out in two days. But she went, and it was the best decision she ever made. Shortly after showing up, she agreed to play a drinking game she'd never played before. Not knowing how to play, she asked the guy standing next to her to explain it... and the rest is history! Sarah and Tyler didn't stop talking the rest of the night (mostly Sarah let's be honest) and half an hour before the sunrise Tyler suggested they walk across the street to a nearby donut shop. They grabbed donuts and hot cocoa, climbed on to Tyler's roof, and watched the sunrise together! They knew then this was something special.
After turning 21, Tyler and Sarah started going wine tasting in Calistoga, CA every winter. So when Tyler suggested they go again at the start of this year, it wasn't an indication of anything out of the norm. But, when Sarah suggested they go a different weekend and Tyler wouldn't budge... she got a little suspicious. So she picked a cute outfit, curled her hair, did her makeup, and made sure her nails were camera close-up ready. The first winery of the day was one of the few they tasted at every year, and nearly always bought a bottle from. It's a special place for them. So Sarah was convinced this had to be it! When Tyler stepped away to the restroom she thought "He must be off preparing himself to pop the question!" and when he came back and the rest of the tasting room emptied out she thought "This must be planned!" and when the staff directed them outside to the patio to "see something interesting" she thought "This is it! It's happening!" and it turns out... it was just to show them a unique lemon tree. The wine tasting ended, and no proposal came. Then the next winery, and the one after that. Still no proposal. And when they arrived at the fifth and final winery of the day, Sarah had already texted her friends to tell them how wrong her hunch was. On the way out Tyler suggested that they should get a photo in front of a beautiful fountain outside. The sun was setting, the vineyard was all around them, and while Sarah smiled naively for an innocent photo... Tyler got down on one knee and popped the question! Sarah didn't hear much of what he said over her shrieks and shock and tears, but she heard "I love you, will you marry me?" and she screamed YES! The easiest yes there ever was.
