Chris and Tyler met online on the app "Bumble" in late November 2020. Their conversation was slow to start, but once they met in person they hit it off! Their first date was on December 3, 2020.
They got engaged on October 9, 2022 in Custer State Park, South Dakota on the Cathedral Spires Trail. Their friend Emily secretly stowed the ring in her backpack during the hike. Then at the perfect photo spot she gave the ring to Chris so he could pop the question! Emily came prepared with champagne and plastic champagne flutes! After the excitement, the trio hiked down the trail and traveled onto Mount Rushmore. That evening they celebrated the engagement at Tally's Silver Spoon in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Chris and Tyler chose to have an elopement wedding to keep it simple and keep the story about them. They enjoy the outdoors and thought this would be a wonderful experience to look back on. No matter how many years pass, their wedding story will be exclusively about them and their adventure.
There will only be one person attending the wedding and that's their photographer, Hannah Aspen. Hannah works for "The Foxes Photography" and is an experienced adventure elopement photographer. After meeting with her and reviewing her work, they knew she was the right fit for them.
We will be wearing black tuxes from Indochino. And yes, we will be hiking in dress shoes!
Yes and no! We are trying to remain positive and hope for wonderful fall weather in Yosemite National Park on October 17. However, the photographer has assured us that they have been through everything and have a plan B/C/D/E/F ready to go!
Chris and Tyler have chosen to make this their "Wedding Trip" and are not currently planning an official honeymoon. They will be in California for two weeks and will visit five of the nine national parks in the state of California, among other adventures. Chris and Tyler plan to have an anniversary trip to celebrate and will consider that as their honeymoon.
