The best way to get from the airport to Downtown Charleston is by calling an Uber or Lyft. It is about a 15 minute trip from the airport to Downtown.
Depending on what you are looking for, there are many great options and things to do while visiting Charleston. You can book a carriage ride around downtown Charleston, check out the iconic pineapple fountain in Waterfront Park, and take a stroll down historic Rainbow Row. If you want to head out to the beach we personally prefer Folly Beach, but Isle Of Palms and Sullivan's Island are also other great local options. King Street is going to be your main shopping destination for great stores, art galleries, museums, restaurants and more.
No! If you stay in a hotel on James Island or West Ashley you will be required to have transportation everywhere, as it is not walkable. Downtown Charleston has great walkability and easy access to uber/lyft, peddie cabs, or some hotels offer complimentary golf cart drop offs. Be sure to look at the map before booking your hotel to make sure that you are staying on The Peninsula. Often the hotels will be listed as "Charleston", but will not in fact be Downtown.
Charleston in June, is typically pretty hot and humid, so be sure to pack light, breezy clothing. As always, the weather is unpredictable, so be sure to check the forecast, before you visit.
