San Luis Obispo County is well known for it's various wine varietals and overwhelming amount of wineries. The San Luis Obispo wine tasting area is approximately a 30 minute drive from Atascadero while Paso Robles is approximately a 15 minute drive. A couple of our favorites are: Saucelito Canyon, Baileyana Winery, and Edna Valley Vineyard (San Luis Obispo) and Opolo Vineyards, Tooth and Nail Winery, and Croad Vineyards (Paso Robles). Keep in mind though, SLO county is home to more than 280 wineries so there are options for everyone!
If wine is not your thing (or if you like everything like us!), both Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo have tons of breweries to pick from! Our favorites are: Central Coast Brewing, Libertine Brewing, and Liquid Gravity Brewing (SLO) as well as Firestone Brewing and Barrelhouse Brewing Company (Paso Robles). Fun Fact: Barrelhouse is where Trevor proposed and where we got to celebrate with our families afterwards!
Morro Bay is quiet, coastal town that is very popular with tourists and is just a 14 mile drive west from Atascadero. When we are here, we love taking a walk along the beach to Morro Rock, eating at Tognazzini's Dockside Too, and walking down the Embarcadero. We actually lived together in Morro Bay before moving to Atascadero and we had our first date at The Libertine!
San Luis Obispo is a fun, small college town that has a very active downtown area and was considered the "Happiest City in America" by Oprah in 2011! When we are here, we love to eat at the Flour House, Thai Boat, Giuseppes Cucina Rustica, and Firestone (get the tri-tip sandwich with a basket of fries!) as well as enjoy drinks at the rooftop bar of the Hotel Cerro. San Luis Obispo is also home to the infamous Madonna Inn, the San Luis Obispo Mission, and many hiking trails (IE: Bishop's Peak and Madonna Mountain) and outdoor activities for everyone.
