I was invited to dinner at my friends Sam and Karen’s house. Sam’s friend Matt was in town from Kansas City and they wanted to get a group together to show him a good time. I was tired from being out too late dancing and almost bailed. Little did I know that it was a set up. I had fun but didn’t think much of it. A couple weeks later I was asked what I thought of Matt and shown a picture to jog my memory. I thought he was cute. (I still do.) Four years later, we are making it official!
Matt mentioned several times that we should go hiking at Turkey Mountain. I had already done a long run that morning but didn’t want to discourage him from exercise! We went and found a pretty spot overlooking the river. Matt turned to me and said “You told me once that I should ask you to marry me on a mountain. Will this one work?” I responded, “It doesn’t have to be on a mountain. When that time comes, just don’t do it on a Jumbotron.” Matt shook his head, “Bri, you’re not getting it. Will this work?” He dropped to his knee with the ring. I was so shocked, I didn’t say yes. I just asked, “Are you serious?”
