Question

Where is the wedding going to be?

Answer

We have had a change in our venue. The wedding will now be at the Napili Kai Resort and it will be an evening wedding. It is about an hour drive from where most of us are staying in Kihei. We are sorry for the inconvenience, it is definitely not what we had planned but it is going to work out great!

Why should we stay in a condo instead of a hotel?

Answer

There is a limited number of hotels in the area we are staying and having the ceremony. The hotels that are in the area are about the same cost per night as a condo. We find condos are nice because it gives you the option of cooking if you choose. They are a little more spacious than a hotel room as well and often have a lanai (balcony/deck) off of them to enjoy fresh air and a nice view! A full condo and a hotel room are usually about the same price.

We see some condos have air conditioning and some do not. Do we need air conditioning?

Answer

Air conditioning is not a requirement, many of the condos have a lot of windows and can get good air flow through them which helps to cool them nicely. However, if you prefer cooler temperatures after a day at the beach or ability to control the temperature we highly recommend looking for a place with air conditioning.

Do we need a rental car?

Answer

You don't have to rent a car but we highly recommend it, especially if you plan to do any day trips exploring the island. There is Uber, Lyft and Turtle Tracks if you prefer not to rent a car.

Will we be able to walk to the beach from our condo?

Answer

Most condos in Kihei are within walking distance of the beach, normally only 2-3 blocks away.

Do we need to bring beach towels?

Answer

Most condos supply beach towels which helps to minimize your packing but double check just to make sure!

How hot will it be?

Answer

Temperatures in Kihei don't fluctuate too much. In April the average overnight low is 66 and daytime average is 82.

What sunscreen is reef safe?

Answer

Ok, probably no one has asked this but we'll share anyway! Most sunscreens you will buy in Hawaii will be reef safe as they have banned sunscreens that are not reef safe. Some ingredients are bad for the fish and have been bleaching the coral reef. If you are checking some of the sunscreen you already have some ingredients to avoid in Hawaii are Oxybenzone, Octinoxate and Octocrylene. The sun is really intense between 10am and 2pm so please do wear your sunscreen, SPF of at least 30 and reapply at least every 2 hours. ☺️
