Our Big Happy Love Story

You'll notice that our wedding hashtag is "Big Happy." Ever since we first started dating, we've been referring to the joy we experience in our partnership as feeling big happy. We hope you find yourself feeling big happy too as you help us celebrate our big day!

Facebook Friends

In 2019, we both stumbled upon a Facebook group, which we joined and began making lasting friendships with people around the country. At the time, Tommy was living in California and Abigail was in Pennsylvania. After being internet friends for a few years, we met up for the first time in Florida with a group of friends on March 11th, 2021, and we really clicked better than we could have ever imagined. Before we left Florida, Tommy told one of our friends he was going to marry Abigail.

Closing the Gap

We spent the next few weeks talking every day over text and FaceTime while Abigail hit the road to spend some time living in Florida and roadtripping around the country. Tommy talked to her on the phone for nearly the entire 17-hour drive to St. Petersburg (where we first met) and we learned so much about one another. When Abigail finally arrived at her apartment in Florida, she found a beautiful floral arrangement waiting for her addressed to “Abigail Orlando.” It was during this time that Tommy dared Abigail to date him, we contemplated the realities of how we could make it work being on opposite coasts, and we picked out names for our future children. After a few weeks of daily Facetime calls while being 2,000+ miles apart, Tommy booked Abigail a flight to California and we finally had our first date at the exquisite Monterey Bay Chili's. The week was full of fun dates from the Adventure Challenge scratch off date book, staying up late sharing our goals and dreams, and ignoring the fact that we would soon be far apart again. Abigail was working remote and didn't need to be back in Philadelphia for her job until October 1st. During this time, she was staying in AirBnBs and traveling to enjoy her "hot girl summer." As her Florida trip came to an end, Abigail found her next place to stay in San Jose, which put her just 60 miles away from Tommy.

Moving to Missouri

At the end of June, we got the call that Tommy had an official start date with the sheriff's office and we were ready to move to Missouri! We found an apartment in the neighboring county to spend a few months in until we found the perfect house. In September, Abigail switched companies which allowed her to work from home full time with no need to return to Philly. While celebrating the great news and what that meant for us, we closed on our house in Troy, Missouri later that month. For the next year, we enjoyed may new experiences together from weekend trips, meeting each other’s family and friends, knocking out grad school classes, and growing together.

The Proposal

We spent Thanksgiving 2022 with Abigail’s family in Pittsburgh, and this was when Tommy asked Abigail’s dad for her hand in marriage. The following week, Tommy proposed to Abigail in the front yard of our first home together. Despite always knowing what is going on, Abigail was still surprised. We have since celebrated our engagement with our family and friends and are eagerly counting down the days until we get to say I do!
