Vanessa and Gregory’s relationship, like many these days, started out as a digital one, though not in the way you might think. Vanessa, being the latest addition to the Disney Corporate account while working out of PwC’s LA office, and Greg, having maneuvered his way onto the ESPN account while working out of PwC’s NYC office, were initially only aware of and communicating with each other through email, phone calls and instant messages as platonic co-workers. When Greg moved to LA with PwC and was being introduced around the room, Vanessa took two seconds away from her work to give him a head nod, and went right back to it. At a Disney post-filing celebration dinner afterparty, Greg finally mustered up enough liquid courage to make his first move, but Vanessa, being the ever so vigilant sober work party attendee, was having none of it, even after Greg won over the crowd with one of his patented karaoke performances. The following weekend, Greg invited Vanessa out with a group to celebrate his birthday, which she smartly attended. Again, with enough liquid courage, Greg asked her out, and this time, she said if he remembered to ask her again the following day, she would say “Yes”. And thank goodness for digital phone reminders, because he did, and she did, and the rest is history.
After dating for a few years, building a relationship that survived job changes, a pandemic, and a brutal moving experience, it was time for the best decision Greg ever made, which was to ask Vanessa to marry him. Greg chose Thanksgiving as the day to pop the question, which was rather fitting since both individuals are very “thankful” that they found each other (awwww!). Knowing the day was eventually coming, Vanessa had two requests, which was to have her family there to celebrate, and a photographer present to capture the moment. It was a very simple, but beautiful, proposal in Palm Desert, CA (a place very near and dear to Vanessa) on a golf course (a place very near and dear to Greg) with a perfect desert sunset in the background. With Vanessa’s family and the photographer watching from afar, Greg got down on one knee and was able to work through approximately five words before the waterworks started flowing (his, not hers). Vanessa said “Yes!” and the celebration began. It was a day that Vanessa and Greg will never forget. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in New York!
