February 2020 - We met on Tinder March 20, 2020 - We became a couple - locking it down before lockdown June 2021 - We adopted Luna (sleepover with her the 3rd, but official adoption the 6th) July 2021 - We moved in together November 3, 2021 - We adopted Onyx August 22, 2022 - We bought a house together November 17, 2022 - We got engaged! In the time we have been together, we have done so much. This timeline is just a glimpse of the big steps we've taken together. Thank you for being apart of our story and celebrating the next big date!
We met through Tinder. Michael asked me to meet in person and I responded proposing a date and time (because I live by my calendar). Michael said he would confirm his availability, but like so many virtual matches, he never followed up. When the day came and went, he messaged me to say “I guess we’re not meeting up”, to which I reminded him that he said he would let me know. I guess I’m a bit stubborn because I wasn’t going to have him implying that I was a flake; so we rescheduled. We met each other at South Park Pizza Tavern, where we started with a beer on the patio. Unfortunately, I was freezing on the patio and rather than end the date, I decided Michael wasn't a murderer and asked if we could move indoors. Once we were resettled into the evening, Chelsea and Charles show up and crash the date! I had to convince Michael that I didn't know they would be there, while also introducing them in this awkward "I don't really know this guy" way.
I had this planned since the summer of 2022. I received the family blessing when we bought our new home. On November 17, 2022, I was….waiting nervously at our Friendsgiving in the dining room for Diana to come back to the room. The dogs wearing their bandanas not knowing what’s happening. Diana walks in and awkwardly stands next to the wall. I get down on one knee and say “I know you didn’t want me to do this in front of people but here I am.” Her response is “oh my gosh, dooooont.” After trying to put into words of how much I love and care for her, she told me “Yeah sure.” (Not super helpful when you’re nervous asking someone to be your forever while you’re on one knee, your knee on a hardwood floor hating it’s life.) Since we adopted Luna and moved in together, I knew from that moment I was going to ask her to be my wife. It was a matter of when and how I was going to do it.
