How We Met

"The Invisible String Theory"

The theory believes that an invisible red string connects the fingers of people destined to encounter each other at specific moments. This signifies that the people in question are predestined lovers. As for this theory, it suggests that something is connecting you to a specific someone you’ve met/bumped into. And it is believed that the person is the one you’re meant to be with. The idea that "your person" is hidden in plain sight, until the universe decides it's the optimum time. Growing up: Ethan & John (Amanda's future cousin-in-law) grew up down the road from each other and were childhood friends. Summer of 2006: Amanda hung out in Paddock Lake and met Ethan's cousin Cody on the beach. Summer of 2007: Amanda moved to Lake Geneva and started her first job at the Cactus Club. She worked there for a couple of months. She ended up quitting and shortly after, Ethan started working there. Ethan remembers working with Amanda's mom. Fall/Winter of 2008: Amanda met and hung out with Ethan's cousin Jamie through mutual friends. Spring of 2019: Ethan & Amanda attended the same wedding, sat very near each other, but did not get a chance to meet yet. July of 2020: Hannah & John hosted a family party. When Ethan showed up, Amanda saw him working the crowd, and thought to herself, "I don't know what it is, but I need to meet that guy." Ethan eventually walked up to the group, but there was no where for him to sit. Conveniently enough, Amanda was sitting on a cooler and Ethan asked if she could share her seat. He didn't know she already had her eyes on him, but she quickly scooted over and they introduced themselves. The universe finally decided to connect their no longer invisible strings. In between: Ethan & Amanda saw each other at a few social gatherings, and always found each other hanging out by the end of the night. May of 2021: Ethan & Amanda finally made their relationship official.

The Proposal

2/25/2023

It was a typical Saturday full of errands and adult chores; however, they were also preparing to leave for Mexico in a few days. Ethan and Amanda started the day by getting pedicures together. Amanda stayed to get her nails done and she was very taken-a-back when Ethan offered to pay for both her fingers & toes. He's never done this before. Cue hint #1. Amanda was originally supposed to have a girls night this night; however, Ethan had let her know that it was canceled (even though she did not get a cancellation from the girls). He instead made a nice dinner reservation for that evening. Hint #2. They spent the day getting ready for the trip. Everything was seemingly normal until Amanda asked Ethan to charge the ring camera before they left for Mexico. He responded that he would do it later. Well "later" turned out to be the second they walked out the door for dinner at the Colony House. Hmmm hint #3. Ethan was very nervous as he drove them to the restaurant and Amanda thought to herself "if this guy proposes to me in a crowded restaurant, I will get up and leave." After they ordered drinks and food, he seemed completely normal and Amanda did not think about a potential proposal for the rest of the dinner. The dinner was absolutely amazing with great conversation and lots of laughs. They made it home after dinner and as they were getting out of the car, Amanda asked Ethan if he was going to grab the leftovers out of the backseat as he was grabbing his jacket. He replied, "No, I have one more surprise for you." He then pulled a blindfold out of his jacket and put in on Amanda. While they were at dinner, Ethan had her cousins and friends (the original girls night group) set the house up with balloons, rose petals, and candles. He did not want the ring camera up while they were at dinner or it could jeopardize the surprise. Now blindfolded, Ethan led her in the house and told her to take her blindfold off. He was down on one knee asking her to marry him. In true Amanda fashion, she freaked out for the first minute and forgot to say "yes." She screamed cried "this isn't real!!!" Once she realized it was "actually real" she said "YES!!!!" After, they celebrated at Hannah & John's with friends and family. The place where they finally first met.

Life Together

We moved in together in May of 2022. We spend our time together doing house projects, cooking/baking/grilling, playing board & card games, taking our dog Sully for a walk, and the occasional fancy date night. We also love to travel to new places whenever we have the opportunity. If we are not at home, you can usually find us at a family party or a friend's celebration. We love spending time with our family & friends. Which is why we are so excited to celebrate our love with each and every one of you.. the people that mean the most to us.
