The Hotel Chelsea (also the Chelsea Hotel or the Chelsea) is a hotel in Manhattan, New York City, built between 1883 and 1885. It has been the home, hotel, and inspiration of numerous writers, musicians, artists, and actors like Andy Warhol, Edie Sedgwick, Janis Joplin, Marilyn Monroe, and Patti Smith. “I loved this place, its shabby elegance, and the history it held so possessively… So many had written, conversed, and convulsed in these Victorian dollhouse rooms. The High Line is a public park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. Saved from demolition by neighborhood residents and the City of New York, the High Line opened in 2009 as a hybrid public space where visitors experience nature, art, and design. You can access it at Gansevoort Street and Washington Street and at 23rd Street and 10th Avenue.
