Taylor and Ashley matched on Hinge (an online dating app that connects people through their mutual facebook friends). When Taylor and Ashley realized that they had a mutual close friend in common, one of Ashley's best friends in high school, they immediately reached out to her to "vet" one another out. The mutual friend, Chelsea, said they would be perfect together and that she was upset she didn't think of setting them up sooner. (Chelsea grew up living next door to Taylor's best friend Greg, small world). After this good review and some rapid fire messaging into the wee hours that night, they decided it was finally time to meet. Their first date involved getting Margaritas at Casablanca and the rest was history. Three years later, after moving in and getting a dog together, Taylor realized it was time to put a ring on her. When he asked for her dad's permission to marry his daughter, he responded that it would be the "best decision of his life.”
Taylor’s original plan was to propose to Ashley on her birthday, and have all her friends and family join afterwards for a COVID-friendly social distanced picnic celebration. However, their plans shifted when LA went into another lockdown. Taylor had to shift gears and somehow make the day special for Ashley. Ashley woke up on her birthday to a missing dog and note about a scavenger hunt to get their Riley back. Each clue involved Ashley going to a location that held special meaning in their relationship, ending with the proposal at their favorite park in Playa Del Rey. Although the celebration couldn't be as big as Taylor had hoped for, Ashley's parents masked up and safely came to toast the new couple, which was a special surprise for her!
