Maid of Honor
We met in high school when I used to block her locker while I waited for first period to start. We reconnected after college and have discovered how much values and joy we share with each other. Anna is a popular gal, but she somehow always makes time to listen to me and hang out with me. We have witnessed each other at our highest and lowest points in life, and I am so proud of how far she has come in her self-betterment journey. There is so much to discover about life, and I am happy that I have a friend like Anna to share every detail and new findings with.
Best Man
Who would've guessed that this kid I met in Kindergarten would become my best man. Living one block away from each other throughout elementary school, middle school and high school, we were always best buds and you would always see us together. Roger now lives in Alaska but whenever we see each other it's just like old times.
Maid of Honor
Oh, Jane. We met in high school and survived AP Chemistry together. We were also in the swim team together, although she left me after the first year. We then became roommates for 3 years at UCLA. When I think about memories with Jane, they are either moments where we laugh uncontrollably at God knows what, or reminiscences of deep conversation - ones that tug at the bottom of your heart. Anyone that knows her knows that she has this special ability to open up your heart while empathizing with you the whole time. There's no doubt in my heart that we will be life long friends.
Groomsman/Brother of the Bride
David is my (Susanna's) older brother, and we are 18 months apart in age. When we were young, I remember he would let me sleep on his shoulder on the bus even though his arm was getting numb. When we went on vacation, he would let me sit on the luggage and push me around so I don't have to walk. When this boy started liking me in middle school, he told him to leave me alone. Needless to say, I didn't have a boyfriend in middle school. In high school, we constantly fought over the modem because it was so freaking slow. I remember this one time, I went into his room and stole the modem (this was when all desktops were connected via ethernet cable) and locked myself in the room.
Bridesmaid/Officiant
Kayla was assigned randomly as the third roommate at UCLA, and I remember her voice was really high when we first met. Even as a 4th generation Japanese American, she embraced her heritage and joined Taiko in college (became leader btw), and then flew 6000 miles to teach English in Japan, and then now works at the Japanese consulate. HOW COOL IS THAT? I had the honor of being roommates with her again in 2018, and I feel that we were able to connect with each other much more than we did in college. I know that Kayla is someone who will always have my back.
Groomsman
I met Randy freshman year of high school during tennis practice and I remember us playing doubles together. We became good friends and spent lots of time together playing video games and doing random antics after school, some of which may or may have been legal. Over the years, Randy has become quite the outdoor enthusiast and makes a great leader for backpacking trips, though my feet and legs may not be strong enough to withstand the distance.
Bridesmaid
We met in... science class in 6th grade? I honestly don't remember the details, but I know that we were in orchestra together, and always got yelled at because I would try to use made up sign language from the viola section to her at the cello section. I have so many memories of young careless days with Josephine. I remember going to her house before school started because my socks had holes and I used her stapler to staple it together. Obviously did not work. She is the epitome of a loyal friend and always has my best intention in mind.
Groomsman
Vinh is my brother-in-law who has graciously let me stay at his place for the past two years. While living there, I have seen him excel as a father to his daughters, husband to my sister, and a friend to me. I am the youngest of three siblings and never had an older brother, but he definitely filled in that void as someone that I can seek whenever I need advice.
Bridesmaid
Alice was the first person I met at UCLA. I remember her bright and cheerful introduction when she knocked on my door. I am so proud to be friends with such a motivated, accomplished, and well-rounded woman. Don't let her petite frame fool you - this girl packs a whole lotta fire in everything she does. Her excitement and passion for her career as a lawyer is truly inspiring. She displays perfection in balancing independence and relationships at the same time.
Groomsman
I think I first met Caleb at one of Randy's house parties when we were in college. It's a bit fuzzy because most of the times we hung out during that time, it involved copious amounts of drinking. Caleb eventually became a part of the 209 group (for those who don't know, this is the name for our group of friends who were from Modesto since the phone area code is 209) and it's always nice catching up with him and hearing about his most recent trip. He has a bold passion for solo travel, and it's admirable to see him drop everything and just go on these month long backpacking trips.
