Summer and Derek met on the Cardinal Marching Band's first day of band camp 2014 at the University of Louisville. They both played trumpet. Summer remembers Derek wearing his "new" Hawaii shirt, blue shorts, and being the most friendly person she met. Through their first season in marching band and then pep band, Summer and Derek spent time together and got to know each other at games and over their late night dinners at the Taco Bell near campus. Their first official date was on Valentine's Day 2015, and when Derek brought Summer home, he met her parents and knew they were meant to be. They started dating on February 20th, 2015, and from there they traveled on countless band trips, ate wonderful food & cooked delicious meals, celebrated graduating from UofL, got their first post-graduation jobs, traveled across the country, and got engaged on July 27th 2020. After 7 years together, they are now getting married in the same place Summer's great-grandparents met close to 80 years ago. Their wedding at The Henry Clay on May 20th, 2022 will celebrate their love for one another with their family and friends. We can't wait to celebrate with you! -Summer & Derek
