The Wedding Website of Sophia Yanik and Victor Souto
We know that our guests will be coming to our engagement party and wedding from a variety of different places. Both Philadelphia and Rio de Janeiro can be far for all of us. Regardless of the distance, we are so grateful you want to celebrate with us! The purpose of this page is to be an informative resource on all things flights and transportation. Please see the accompanying pages (Accommodations and Things to Do) for other travel information.

Flight Tips

Preferred airlines, airports, and travel routes

We recommend flying either Delta, United, or American Airlines from the US to Brazil. There are direct flights from New York to Rio de Janeiro, and flights with one stop from Philadelphia, but you can really find a flight from most major cities in the US. You can fly into Santos Dumont (SDU) or “Galeão” a.k.a Tom Jobim International Airport (GIG), but we recommend GIG. We like to fly to Atlanta or Miami and then head to Rio, if we can’t find a nonstop flight. American, Delta, and LATAM have flights there daily. Most flights are overnight, so make sure to double check which day you're arriving when making travel plans! Lastly, we would recommend booking your flight 6-8 months out for the best prices. Google flight tracking is your friend!

Transportation tips

Getting around Rio: best practices

Getting to/from the airport: The best mode of transportation is a private transfer. Please indicate your arrival/departure dates, times, and flight numbers on either the RSVP form or separately to Victor and Sophia and we will help you coordinate a private transfer from the airport. Uber is also an option. For both safety and comfort, we recommend a VIP Uber. Getting around Rio: We highly recommend Uber, as it's much more affordable than Uber in the US and just as convenient. We do not recommend renting a car, as Uber works perfectly well in Brazil. Keep in mind that Brazilians have smaller cars than Americans, so you won't be able to order a true Uber XL. Everyone coming to Brazil should have Uber on their phone! You can also ask your hotel to call you a taxi - you may pay a little more for it, but it's less work and very safe.
