While Spencer and Julia knew *of* each other for many years, it took them much longer to actually meet. Though they ran in the same social circles at Boston University, frequented the same spots, and had lots of friends in common, they never seemed to be at the right place at the right time. It wasn't until the fall of 2015, their senior year at BU, that Julia decided to grab lunch at the BU Pub with one of their (many) mutual friends. She arrived and who should be already sitting in the booth but that elusive Spencer Hilton she had somehow never met. Well, it turned out that the elusive Spencer Hilton was pretty cute, too. So even though it took almost four years for them to meet, it was very worth the wait.
One of the couple's favorite places has always been the beach at the Budde family's summer home in South Dartmouth, Massachusetts. Over the years they've shared so many happy memories there with family and friends, and so when Spencer began planning the proposal, he knew exactly where to pop the question. After spending a night at the house, Spencer and Julia decided to go for a walk along the beach before heading back to the city. It was a beautiful day, all sunshine and 50 degrees, despite it being December. Julia will say that she noticed that Spencer seemed nervous (he was talking faster than usual and seemed in a hurry), so when they arrived at the beach and she was met with an aisle of candles lined the sand, it became clear what was going on. At the end of the aisle were vases of white hydrangeas (Julia's favorite) and a bottle of champagne. They walked down the aisle, and at the end Spencer got down on one knee and asked if Julia would spend the rest of her life with him. After Julia said yes (of course!), the Budde family and several of the couple's best friends popped out from where they had been hiding, videoing and photographing the whole event!
