Pier 39 is a longtime family favorite. My mom and grandfather have both owned stores on Pier 39 for as long as I can remember. I remember running up and down the Pier as a child and visiting with the sea lions. Once I was older, I spent a few summers working retail in the family's stores. We recommend visiting The Cable Car Store, Under the Golden Gate, Shirtique/Krazy Kaps, and the Crepe Cafe. If you're interested in visiting Pier 39 and have any questions, please reach out to Deanna or Dawn directly.
We are so fortunate to be so close to the Golden Gate Bridge. There are a number of fun things you can do around the area such as visit Vista Point to get some great photos right in front of the bridge, or you can bike or walk across the bridge!
If you're interested in heading into San Francisco and don't want to drive, the San Francisco ferry is a great option. You can take the ferry straight from Marin near the Smith family residence straight into the ferry building in San Francisco.
Alcatraz Island is always an exciting place to go visit on a trip into San Francisco! If you're interested in visiting, we recommend booking your tickets early as these tours do tend to sell out, especially in the summer!
When Joe came to visit the first winter we were dating, we spent a day in the city and visited the Exploratorium. I have always loved the Exploratorium, and as two science nerds, Joe and I had a great time here.
