The good news: San Francisco has a very mild climate. It rarely gets out of the 55 to 65 degree range (12 to 18°C), summer or winter. There's no bad news! Just a reminder that it's often cool and windy, especially in the afternoon so be sure to pack a warm jacket and sweater for sudden temperature changes (especially for let's say... at an outdoor wedding venue at night!). San Francisco is also very walkable and has tons of public transportation. Comfortable shoes for those hills and a backpack to carry layers is a good idea.
For the welcome, come as you are. We know many will be traveling so don’t worry about getting super dressed up. Expect folks to be wearing jeans or cute dresses, but leggings are also welcome. For the wedding, we’re asking folks to wear semi-formal.This means that men could wear suits or dress pants and a button-down shirt (suit jacket optional, but recommended for weather). Women could wear dresses, pantsuits or other attire appropriate for an outdoor venue (note: shoes should be comfortable for possibly walking on gravel and grass). No matter what you choose to wear, make sure you feel confident and comfortable in your outfit. For the after party, no need to change.
The hotel offers valet parking for $75/night. Best place to park your car is right across the street from the hotel called Hearst Parking Center (45 3rd St, San Francisco, CA 94103) for $35 for 24 hours overnight.
The host hotel is in the South of Market (SOMA) district of San Francisco. If you're looking to book your own lodging that is walkable to the host hotel, we'd recommend staying in Union Square or the Financial District. A few recommendations include: -- San Francisco Marriott Union Square, 480 Sutter St, San Francisco, CA 94108; -- The Westin St. Francis San Francisco on Union Square, 335 Powell St, San Francisco, CA 94102 -- Le Méridien San Francisco, 333 Battery St, San Francisco, CA 94111 -- Omni San Francisco Hotel, 500 California St, San Francisco, CA 94104) Other fun neighborhoods include the Castro, the Mission, North Beach/Marina and Potrero Hill. You'll need to use a ride share or public transit to the host hotel and/or venue. We'd also recommend avoiding The Tenderloin District.
