A Little Something About Us

If you ask us about how we met, we'll both have a different story... at least the outcome is the same!

Shira's Version: We (very briefly) met through a friend in Somerville, MA at a dive called Mike's. I barely looked at him that day and never saw him again- at least until a dating app. Thank god for the internet, right? So I guess our first date story is how we really met, how we really got to know each other, you know? For anyone that knows me, I live like a grandma- bed by 9p (of course, this was all before my night-shift days). On the night of our first date, we went to Cheeky Monkey (on a school night- the scandal). I see him wearing this... questionable green sweater, along with his scuffed brown shoes. I thought to myself, "this will be interesting." Fast forward 4 hours, we're eating, laughing, drinking, and playing pool (of course). The clock strikes 11:50p, and I realize I need something at Target. I ask Hardy if "he's down" to go on a quick errand with me, and he just smiles and says, "sure." So, we're drunk running to Target, make it at 11:58p to find that it was closed! I felt bad for wasting his time and energy on my unsuccessful Target run, so I continued to apologize throughout the remaining time of our date (all 10 minutes of calling rides, and saying our goodbyes). It didn't take long for me to want to see him again- I remember seeing him almost every night after for about two weeks straight. All I can say is "what a date!" Hardy's Version: When we were introduced at Mike's Bar & Grill, she definitely said "I just saw you on the T" and I remember being weirded out (she will heavily deny this part happened). That said, we still reconnected on a dating app a year later. I'd only just begun dating and was generally cautious so as to not overstep. Turns out I was too cautious, and Shira said "so are we gonna actually go out?" and made it easy for me! Despite being trapped by the illusion of Shira liking college sports when she said "Go Blue!" and that she could stay out late and keep up with me and my lifestyle at the time, I still raved about our first date for weeks to my roommates (shoutout Husky House). From then on, we never looked back - we spent a lot of time together in a short period of time and got an accelerated course (facilitated by COVID and her multiple floods) in learning about each other at our best and our worst, getting the most common challenge of a relationship out of the way early. The rest is history.
