One thing Andrew and Shina have in common is a love for the Caribbean. We are at our happiest when we are hanging out pool/beachside with tropical drinks in hand, and we can't think of anything more perfect than sharing that feeling with all of you! Plus, with our family and friends spread all across the country (and a few across the globe), we knew our wedding would be a big trip for most people no matter where it was held. Jamaica is where we took our first vacation together as a couple, and also happens to have the most options for holding destination weddings, so logistically speaking, it was the right place to make our wedding dreams come true.
The dress code for the wedding is "tropical formal." What does that mean, you ask? Pants (not shorts) and a jacket and/or tie. Cocktail, tea-length, or long dresses or jumpsuits. Flip flops are not appropriate. Tropical colors and flair are encouraged :) For all other events, please come as you are. Please note, the resort does have a dress code for the restaurants at dinner time (no bathing suits or beach coverups, athletic wear, etc.)
Yes! We intentionally chose a family friendly resort so that anyone who wants to make this a family vacation is able to do so. That said, if you want to leave the kids at home, we fully support that decision too :) Please be sure to RSVP for any children you are bringing. You may also want to contact the resort for more information about what activities are available for the kiddos.
There is a 3-night minimum to book a room in our room block. But if your schedule allows, you may want to stay 4 or 5 nights (or more!) to take advantage of the all-inclusive experience and enjoy some of Jamaica's beautiful sights! We anticipate that most guests will arrive on Thursday or Friday and depart on Monday or Tuesday.
At an all-inclusive resort, all meals, snacks, and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are included in the rates. There is usually a main buffet area open for all meals, as well as a la carte restaurant options for dinner. Nightly entertainment, fitness activities, and non-motorized water activities are also included. The beauty of this is that once you arrive at the resort, you can leave your wallet in the room, and enjoy a few days not thinking about money. You are of course free to venture off the resort and explore other parts of the island as well!
Transfers to and from the airport can be arranged through our room booking company for an added cost. Spa services are available at the resort, but not included. There are also many excursions (e.g., snorkeling trips, boat cruises, waterfalls, etc.) available for an additional cost. These can be booked through the hotel or through outside vendors.
Yes, there are many hotels and resorts in Montego Bay at a variety of price points, and you are welcome to choose a different one. However, please note that if you are staying at a different resort, you will need to pay for a day pass in order to attend any wedding events. PLEASE be sure to let us know if you will be staying at a different hotel or resort so that we can adjust the head count accordingly.
No, you do not have to book within our room block. However, we worked with DestinationWeddings.com to secure a great rate for you, and, frankly, it will make our lives a bit easier if you do.
