How else? Jenna and Sean met the modern way…using dating apps to wade through a sea of unworthy (and often ridiculous) candidates until they both realized they’d found a match that immediately felt different. They met for their first date on February 27th, 2020; Jenna appreciated Sean’s honesty, which started with him walking into Webster’s Wine Bar in Logan Square and being exactly the height he claimed in his dating profile! (For the uninitiated, in the world of dating apps 6’0”-6’2” generally means 5’10”.) Jenna had a solid list of interview questions but it was clear to Sean that she was also the first woman who was genuinely interested in his story, and she listened without judgement. Things were going great and then Jenna announced halfway through a glass of wine that it was time for her to go (turns out teachers don’t like staying out late on weeknights!) They stepped out onto the sidewalk where she promptly zipped up her hooded winter jacket and started marching homeward with purpose. It’s sometimes tough to put someone on the spot about a second date while the first one is still wrapping up, but Sean did so just to stop her before she disappeared into the night! They met for their second date a week and a half later at Longman & Eagle and were out together all night. They texted and talked nonstop through the following weekend while Sean was at his brother Dillon’s wedding and as we all know, immediately after that the COVID lockdown swept the country. Sean and Jenna spent the next year-and-a-half together constantly, using the time to talk, walk the dogs, boat on Lake Michigan, watch movies and cook together. It’s certainly true that quarantine has stressed many relationships, but it was the perfect environment for this one to grow and blossom.
