It was a beautiful warm evening in the summer of 2014. Chris and Vivi, along with friends, were enjoying a night out at one of Providence's seedy nightclubs--the one that had a rotating name of different famous artists (said club is now boarded up). Vivi and her friend Jas were walking past Chris and struck up a conversation. They chatted for a bit but then went their separate ways. Vivi recalls thinking, "Wow, this guy actually seems like a nice dude," and Chris remembers Vivi boldly declaring her ability to take care of herself. Let's just say, their first impressions were pretty spot-on. As Jas and Vivi were pulling off, Jas encouraged her to get Chris' number, so Vivi flipped a u-ey, pulled up to Chris and shouted, "You forgot to ask for my number." Chris, somewhat begrudgingly, put her contact info in his phone. The two texted back and forth for a bit, but things fizzled out after Chris felt judged by Vivi's sarcastic humor.
Although the texting died down, Chris and Vivi kept in touch sporadically using the relationship-igniter, SnapChat. Chris would send Snaps to Vivi when he was reminded of her. She distinctly remembers one: Just after the Wisconsin's basketball team made it to the National Championship, he messaged her cheering the team on and screaming the name of Wisconsin's star player--KAMINSKY--at the top of his lungs. Despite all the SnapChat love, a year later, Chris and Vivi had still not seen each other in person. Once again, Vivi decided to take matters into her own hands and said to Chris, "So are we going to go out on a date or are you just going to be my SnapChat boo?" Shortly thereafter, the two met over a meal. Vivi insisted on sushi since Chris had never had it, and he liked the sushi almost as much as he liked the girl. Things went well enough at dinner that they decided to hit up one of the most cliche dating scenes in all of Rhode Island: WaterFire. Together, they took swigs from a bottle of Hennessy and laughed the night away. They've been together ever since.
